C.M. reviews law and order
situation at a high-level meeting
Brijlal gets the charge of ADGP,
law and order of east and west zones

Lucknow: 31 December 2009

The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Ms. Mayawati has strictly directed for
taking effective action against notorious criminals, mafias and anti-social
elements. She has emphasised to improve the functioning of police stations,
so that complaints of poor and weaker sections could be listened and they get
justice. She said that any slackness in this regard would not be tolerated. The
rule of law by law was included among the top priorities of the government,
she added.

The Chief Minister was reviewing the law and order situation and control
on crimes at a high-level meeting here today at her official residence. She has
underlined the need to keep strict vigil on bordering districts.

During review, the Chief Minister found that for better co-ordination
between east and west zones which had been made for effective control over
crimes and law and order in the State, the charge of both the zones should
remain with only one additional D.G.P. of law and order. Keeping this fact in
view, she decided to give the charge of both the zones to ADGP, law and
order, Mr. Brijlal. Besides, the process of change to review the law and order
situation and control over crimes by the Chief Minister has also been started.
The Chief Minister also directed that ADGP, law and order would hold
review meetings for east and west zones with all range in-charge police IGs
and DIGs in Allahabad and Meerut respectively. She directed that ADGP, law
and order would make surprise inspection of east zone districts every month
for two days. Similarly, two days surprise inspection would be made in the
districts of west zone. Besides, these surprise inspections, on the spot visit
would also be made.

Ms. Mayawati also directed that besides the surprise inspections of
ADGP law and order, Principal Secretary Home and DGP would also review the
law and order situation and control over crimes in the districts of east and
west zones for two days by making visit in districts.

The action report in view of these directives would be presented to the
Chief Minister by Principal Secretary Home and DGP in the end of every
month.

On this occasion, Principal Secretary Home Kunwar Fateh Bahadur and
DGP Mr. karamveer Singh were present, besides ADGP law and order, first
and second.
