ucknow: October 20, 2007 The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Km. Mayawati has greeted the people of the state on the occasion of Dussehara. In a message, Km. Mayawati said that religious festivals had an important place in the Indian culture. The festival of Dussehara, which is a symbol of truthβs victory over evil, strengthens the cultural unity of the country. This festival is also a symbol of dedication and worship. She said that both Navaratri and Dussehara reminded us of our social duties on one hand, while on the other these festivals inspire us to draw inspiration from the moral values established in social life. The C.M. has appealed the people to celebrate Vijyadashmi with peace, harmony and gaiety. ******
Steering Committee headed by Chief Secretary constituted for construction of both Institutes
Lucknow: October 20, 2007 With a view to making the memory of Manyawar Kanshiramβs struggle for Original Inhabitants of Jambudvipa That is The Great Prabuddha Bharath and weaker sections permanent, the Uttar Pradesh Government has started the proceedings for setting up of βManyawar Sri Kanshiram Uttar Pradesh Institute of Technologyβ on the pattern of the IIT, besides another institute of IISC on pattern of Banglore in a speedy manner. IIT would be set up at Lucknow, while the IISC would be set up as green field project in Greater Noida. Responsibilities in this connection have been assigned to different departments, besides constituting an eleven member committee under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary for setting up of both Institutes and policy decision regarding its construction. In a recently held meeting presided over by Principal Secretary to CM Mr. Shailesh Krishana, different aspects were discussed in detail for setting up of both these Institutes. It was decided that the proposed Institutes would be developed as centres of excellence. It was also decided that these Institutes would be created as autonomous institutions under the act of Legislature on the pattern of IIT/IISC and IIMS, so that these institutes could function as independent units and fulfil the aspirations of people on the policies of State Government. Besides the Chief Secretary, the steering committee would comprise UP Technical University Vice Chancellor as executive Chairman, IDC or his representative, Principal Secretary Finance, Planning, Public Works, Housing and Principal Secretary to CM, Director IIT Kanpur and Chairman Project Execution Committee as members. The principal Secretary Technical Education would be Member Secretary. A Project Execution Unit would also be created for the help of steering committee for the construction of both Institutes. For βManyawar Sri Kanshiram Uttar Pradesh Institute of Technologyβ, Lucknow Development Authority would provide 150 acre land in Lucknow, besides the 50 acre land green belt. Likewise, Greater Noida Authority would make available 200 acre land for the Institutes to be set up at Greater Noida on the pattern of IISC Banglore. Both these Institutes would be constructed by Rajkiya Nirman Nigam. The meeting also decided that a list would be prepared from the retired Directors of renowned institutes like IITs and IISCs for appointing full time chairman for setting up of these Institutes. BSP to contest all 68 seats in Himachal
Major Mankotia to be star campaigner along with Ms. Mayawati.
Bahujan Samaj Party will contest all the sixty-eight Vidhan sabha seats in Himachal Pradesh and will not have any electoral understanding with any party. The party has the capacity to contest and win the elections on its own, according to Dhani Ram Shukla, the General Secretary (Organization) of the state unit of party.
Talking to this correspondent after returning from Lucknow where he had gone along with other leaders of the party to take part in a function, Shukla said that Ms. Mayawati, the party Supremo and Satish Chander Mishra, the number two in the organization would campaign in the state. From state side, Major Vijay Singh Mankotia would be the star campaigner. The party has already announced the candidature of Major Mankotia as the next chief minister of state in event of the coming to power.
Shukla expressed optimism that the party would have its say in the formation of the government in the state as it would win sizable number of seats in the election with blessings of the people of state.
The BSP leader said that people from upper castes were highly upset with the Congress and BJP both and were joining the BSP at all places of the state.
Replying to a question, he said that the names of the party candidates would be finalized within next fifteen days. The candidates for the three snow bound constituencies of Bharmaur, Lahaul and Spiti and Kinnaur would be finalized much earlier so that they were able to start their campaign in time.
He said that the state unit of party would send panel of candidates to the party high command and the final decision regarding the candidates would be of the party Supremo. She would personally interview all the aspirants and then decide the names, Shukla added.
Shukla said that besides local issues, other state level and national level issues would also be taken up in the election.
