Buddha was born as prince Siddhartha Gautama, in northern India, in a
place, which now is part of Nepal. His exact lifetime is uncertain, but
most historians date his lifetime from 563 BC to 483 BC.

The meaning of the word Buddha is “The Enlightened One”, or “The Awakened One”, and refers to one who has become enlightened.

Buddha Quotes on Peace and Meditation

1. “Peace comes from within. Do not seek it without.”

2. “You will always be getting praise and blame, but do not let either affect the poise of the mind.”

3. “Inward calm cannot be maintained unless physical strength is constantly and intelligently replenished.”

4. “Do not overrate what you have received, nor envy others. He who envies others does not obtain peace of mind.”

5. “Those who have destroyed the roots of jealousy have peace of mind always.”

6. “Better than a thousand hollow words, is one word that brings peace.”

7. “A man is not called wise because he talks and talks again; but is
he peaceful, loving and fearless then he is in truth called wise.”

8. “Meditation brings wisdom; lack of meditation leaves ignorance. Know
well what leads you forward and what hold you back, and choose the path
that leads to wisdom.”

9. “Meditate. Live purely. Be quiet. Do your work with mastery. Like the moon, come out from behind the clouds! Shine.”

10. “If you are quiet enough, you will hear the flow of the universe.
You will feel its rhythm. Go with this flow. Happiness lies ahead.
Meditation is key.”

“. “একজন মানুষকে জ্ঞানী বলা হয় না কারণ সে আবার কথা বলে এবং কথা বলে;

Med

Published on Aug 28, 2015

Noted
authour and freethinker Ravichandran C is doing a presentation on his
latest Malayalam book ‘BUDHANE ERINJA KALLU’ (The stone with which Budha
thrown at) published by DC books, Kottayam in December 2014 here.
About speaker: https://www.facebook.com/malayaleepre…

The presentation was conducted in association with the CHARVAKAM-2015 at
Ernakulam, Kerala, India on 15th Aug, 2015 organized by ‘Yukthivada
Padanakendram’, Kochin, Kerala.

The 560 pages book is rated as a best seller by the publishers and has
three editions so far. Thematically, the book is divided into three
parts 1. a critical analysis of Bhagavat Gita, the ancient Hindu
scripture 2. Debunking Vedanta(monism) as proposed by Hindu seer Adi
Shankara 3.Discussing the genesis of consciousness and the
neuro-chemical implications there of.

Ravichandran terms that Gita is almost and antonym to many of the
cardinal doctrines of Budhism. Bhagavat Gita lampoons the principles
like ahimsa(non violence), anatma( soullessness) anitya (transience),
gender equality, religious tolerance etc as propounded by Budhism.

The wounded consciousness of Arjuna as we seen portrayed in the
beginning of Gita is somewhat a replica of the situation encountered by
the famous Budhist king Asoka after the war of Kalinga in BCE 261.

Kaling is an ancient feudal republic located on the coast of the
present-day Indian state of Odisha and northern parts of Andhra Pradesh
Emperor Asoka was horrified by the aftermath of the war at Kalinga and
renounced violence for ever.

In Gita, Arjuna was suffocatingly insinuated on by Krishna to destroy
all his opponents even if they are his masters and brothers. If Budha
was the charioteer of Arjuna in the war of Kurukshethra , what would
have happened? Probably, there would not be any war-says Ravichandran.

given one life lesson to the king name Ajatshatru. Ajatshatru came to
Buddha and told him that he was facing issues in his kingdom after he
followed the path told by Buddha. There are people in his kingdom who
are taking false benefit of that kings good behavior . So how Buddha
resolve this issue by teaching one story to him is detailed explained in
this video.

Awakeness Practices

All 84,000 Khandas As Found in the Pali Suttas

Traditionally the are 84,000 Dharma Doors - 84,000 ways to get
Awakeness. Maybe so; certainly the Buddha taught a large number of
practices that lead to Awakeness. This web page attempts to catalogue
those found in the Pali Suttas (DN, MN, SN, AN, Ud & Sn 1). There
are 3 sections:

The discourses of Buddha are divided into 84,000, as to separate
addresses. The division includes all that was spoken by Buddha.”I
received from Buddha,” said Ananda, “82,000 Khandas, and  from the
priests 2000; these are 84,000 Khandas maintained by me.” They are
divided into 275,250, as to the stanzas of the original text, and into
361,550, as to the stanzas of the commentary. All the discourses
including both those of
Buddha and those of the commentator, are divided  into 2,547 banawaras,
containing 737,000 stanzas, and 29,368,000 separate letters.

Maha-parinibbana Sutta — Last Days of the Buddha

The Great Discourse on the Total Unbinding

This
wide-ranging sutta, the longest one in the Pali canon, describes the
events leading up to, during, and immediately following the death and
final release (parinibbana) of the Buddha. This colorful narrative
contains a wealth of Dhamma teachings, including the Buddha’s final
instructions that defined how Buddhism would be lived and practiced long
after the Buddha’s death — even to this day. But this sutta also
depicts, in simple language, the poignant human drama that unfolds among
the Buddha’s many devoted followers around the time of the death of
their beloved teacher.
