Chief Mayawati declared that the party will support the agitating
farmers in the ‘Bharat Bandh’ announced by them to protest Center’s farm
laws.
Taking
to Twitter, BSP Chief Mayawati declared that the party will support the
agitating farmers in the ‘Bharat Bandh’ announced by them to protest
against the Centre’s farm laws. The BSP chief further stated that the
farmers across the country are agitated and prepared to continue their
movement. Mayawati also appealed to the Union government to accept the
demands of the farmers. Earlier last week, the Kisan Unions called for a
‘Bharat Bandh’ on December 8 as a part of the farmers’ protest, though
the politicians have taken over to a large extent.

“The
farmers across India have started a protest against the Centre’s three
farm laws and are demanding their withdrawal. In line with the farmers’
protest, they have called for a ‘Bharat Bandh’ on December 8 and BSP
supports this move. Along with that, once again we request the
government to accept the demands of the farmers,” said BSP chief
Mayawati in a tweet in Hindi.

Delhi Taxi & Auto unions to join Farmers’ protest

As
the farmers continue to protest for the 12th day in a row in Delhi,
some taxi and auto unions in the national capital have decided to join
the farmers in the ‘Bharat Bandh’ called by them on December 8. In an
official statement, president of Delhi Taxi Tourist Transporters
Association Sanjay Samrat informed that several unions including Delhi
State Taxi Cooperative Society and Kaumi Ekta Welfare Association will
participate in the ‘Bharat Bandh’. While several other taxi and auto
unions stand in solidarity with the farmers’ protest against Centre’s
three farm laws, they have decided to continue to provide regular
service. President of Sarvodaya Driver Association of Delhi Kamaljeet
Gill also informed that the union will join the protest. In order to
show their solidarity with the farmer unions representatives of several
bus and taxi unions visited the agitating farmers at Singhu border on
Sunday.


The opposition
party heads issued a joint statement that said that the new laws were
passed in an anti-democratic manner in Parliament. They said that
structured discussion and voting were prevented in the Parliament. They
said the laws threaten India’s food security, destroy Indian agriculture
and the farmers.
The
laws “lay the basis for the abolishment of the Minimum Support Price
(MSP) and mortgage Indian agriculture and our markets to the caprices of
multinational agri-business corporates and domestic corporates,” they
stated.

BJP allies such as Assam Gana Parishad and Rajasthan’s Rashtriya Loktantrik Party in their support for the Bharat bandh.

Meanwhile,
a number of bank unions have also expressed solidarity with the
protesting farmers. The All India Bank Employees’ Association (AIBEA)
issued a statement and said that the government should come forward and
resolve the demands of the nation and the farmers. Officer unions All
India Bank Officers’ Confederation (AIBOC), All India Bank Officers’
Association (AIBOA) and Indian National Bank Officers’ Congress (INBOC)
have also asked the government to resolve the impasse by referring the
bills to a committee.

Farmers
across the country have expressed concerns about the three new laws —
Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act,
2020, Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance
and Farm Services Act, 2020 and Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act,
2020 — that could pave way for dismantling of the minimum support price
(MSP). They argue that that would leave them at the mercy of the big
corporations.
“Our
nation needs peace and main stakeholders of the nation should not be
made to suffer, as the agriculture sector alone performed positively in
the COVID-19 pandemic, which reflects the inherent strength of the
sector,” three officers’ unions said in a joint statement.

Alternative Media Bring Out Real Stories, Counter Propaganda
“I
don’t think any protests have been represented well by mainstream
media”, 19-year-old Vibhu Grover, who has 16,000 followers on Instagram,
tells The Quint.
“This
is the anger of the last three months, and for the last 30 to 40 years
as well. This is the biggest movement for agricultural reforms after
Independence. They are very angry with the media and the government for
ignoring them but they are the most lovely people I’ve met,” Grover, who
has covered the protests from its initial days in Punjab, adds.
“They
will stop you to give you food and chai. I don’t think someone against
the country will help others so much. There are ragpickers and their
children who come and eat at the community langar,” Akshay Kapoor, a
26-year-old photographer with close to 19,000 followers on Instagram,
tells The Quint.
“Reporting this is my duty since I have my camera. Even if it
reaches a 100 people, I am making a difference and it’s how I can help.
This is my art and this is my activism.”

By
posting live footage from the sites of the protests, Kapoor has ensured
that the spotlight stays on the farmers and their demands to scrap the
Centre’s new farm laws.
The
footage these social media influencers post to combat misinformation
and propaganda can vary from videos of farmers singing songs of
revolution to them ensuring consistent food supply for protesters.
“Through
my stories, I want to document the real stories of the protesters and
try to create awareness against propaganda,” says Mohammad Zuber, an
activist and Instagram influencer with almost 27,000 followers, who has
actively been posting in solidarity with the protests.
Anger On Being Vilified By The Media
The
farmers have found a representative from each protesting group to speak
to the media to ensure their views are not misrepresented, explains
Kapoor.

“They ask which news channel/media house you are from. They are
comfortable speaking to independent activists and YouTubers. But if they

‘Godi (One of the leaders of BJP earlier rightly referred it as
PRESSTITUTE) Media’, however, seems to have failed to vilify the
farmers, according to Groverr.
“They
know they can’t vilify the protesters and get away with it like they
did with Shaheen Bagh protesters because of the bigotry of the country
against Muslims,” he says. “Years of oppression and abuse of power is
the trigger behind these protests. These protests are not just triggered
by what’s happening now or by the current political party. The media
has always been the propaganda tool for any political party in power.”

Singh, who has reported extensively on Punjab and is a senior reporter
at The Caravan, adds, “The issues that the Punjab farmers faced have
been buried in Punjabi papers, in Maharashtra in Marathi papers, and so
on and so forth. It has never come out in the national forum because
newspapers want stenographers, not reporters. Reporters sent on ground
are often crime reporters, and not agriculture reporters, and they often
don’t know the context of the protests.”
“There were messages on Facebook and Twitter that they need more and
more communication in English. ‘Let’s start conversing and countering
the IT BJP cells.’

This
video is an audio reading of the concluding chapter of Maha
Satipatthana Sutta, from the translation of the original Pali text by U
Jotika & U Dhamminda, Migadavun Monastery; Maymo; Burma. The term
‘Sutta’ is similar to the term ‘Sutra’ in Sanskrit. It discusses the
discourses of Gautama Buddha himself, on practically developing the
practice of mindfulness- for purification; achieving freedom from sorrow
& suffering; & ultimately achieving liberation or nirvana;
‘nibbana’, in Pali. It is also one of the key foundations of the
practice of Vipassana meditation; as established by Shri S N Goenka,
across the world. The Sattipatthana Sutta is also discussed in detail
during the Sattipatthana Sutta course, which is offered for old
Vipassana students. Sutta usually is taken to refer to discourses of
early Buddhism, especially those by Gautama Buddha. ‘Sati’ in
Satipatthana refers to ‘mindfulness’, while ‘Patthana’ translates
roughly to ‘base foundation’. The Satipatthana Sutta is one of the most
important; most studied; & revered works in the Theravada Buddhist
tradition.

Der Dharma ( Pali: “Dhamma” ) bezeichnet in erster Linie die Lehren des
Buddha und die Wahrheit, wie sie von ihm erkannt wurde. Alle
Formulierungen des Dharma dienen einer ganz praktischen Absicht: Sie
sollen helfen, Leiden und existenzielle Not zu ĂŒberwinden. Sie sind
nicht als theoretische oder philosophische Analysen der Wirklichkeit
gemeint. Die buddhistische Überlieferung spricht vom Dharma als Finger,
der zum Mond zeigt. Der Finger ist wichtig, denn er gibt die Richtung
an, doch wir sollten ihn nicht mit dem Mond selber verwechseln…

Flute Music Lead by Himalayan Flute Bansuri (à€Źà€Ÿà€à€žà„à€°à„€). The Himalayan
Flute (à€Źà€Ÿà€à€žà„à€°à„€) is carved from a special type of bamboo that grows to
longer lengths between the nodules. This type of bamboo is found
primarily in the foothills of the Himalayan mountains Nepal And India.
The bamboo is cut and treated with natural oils for strength and
preservation. After the material has been selected and treated, the
mouth hole is cut into the side of an end. The opening nearer the
blowhole is plugged with a cork, forcing the air to travel past the
finger holes to escape.
The holes in the instrument are measured and burned into the bamboo
with hot metal skewers. This method is chosen to prevent the material
from splitting and altering the sound. After the drilling, each finger
hole is sanded to ensure smoothness and an airtight seal between the
instrument and the player’s fingertips. After the detailing is finished,
the product is quality tested by measuring the distances between each
hole and mouthpiece, the wall thickness, the diameter of finger holes
and the tone of the musical notes. After the instrument is completed, it
is decorated and bound with nylon or silk.

Comment libĂ©rer l’esprit des pensĂ©es qui l’agitent

ai-je entendu. Un jour, alors que le Bouddha résidait à Savatthi, dans
le parc Jeta offert par Anathapindika, il s’adressa à ses moines en
disant :
«
Le moine / le mĂ©ditant qui s’est engagĂ© Ă  atteindre le plus haut degrĂ©
de conscience devrait, chaque fois que nécessaire, contempler cinq
points. Quels sont ces points ?
«
Lorsque des pensées négatives, inappropriées, imprégnées de désir,
d’aversion ou d’ignorance, lui viennent Ă  l’esprit alors qu’il rĂ©flĂ©chit
Ă  un sujet particulier, il doit s’en dĂ©barrasser au plus tĂŽt en pensant
dĂ©libĂ©rĂ©ment Ă  quelque chose d’autre, quelque chose de bĂ©nĂ©fique. Quand
il pense à ce sujet bénéfique, les pensées négatives, inappropriées,
imprĂ©gnĂ©es de dĂ©sir, d’aversion ou d’ignorance, sont abandonnĂ©es et
disparaissent. GrĂące Ă  cela, l’esprit retrouve sa stabilitĂ©, se pose,
s’unifie et se concentre en retournant vers son objet de mĂ©ditation.

De mĂȘme qu’un habile charpentier ou son apprenti est capable, en tapant
fort, de retirer une grosse cheville au moyen d’une autre plus petite,
si des pensĂ©es imprĂ©gnĂ©es de dĂ©sir, d’aversion ou d’ignorance viennent
au mĂ©ditant pendant qu’il rĂ©flĂ©chit Ă  un sujet particulier, il doit les
Ă©liminer en pensant dĂ©libĂ©rĂ©ment Ă  quelque chose d’autre, quelque chose
de bénéfique. DÚs lors, les pensées négatives, inappropriées, imprégnées
de dĂ©sir, d’aversion ou d’ignorance, sont abandonnĂ©es et disparaissent.

dangers que comportent ces pensĂ©es : ‘Vraiment, ces pensĂ©es que j’ai
sont inappropriĂ©es, rĂ©prĂ©hensibles et porteuses de souffrance’. DĂšs
lors, les pensées négatives, inappropriées, imprégnées de désir,

De mĂȘme qu’une jeune personne bien habillĂ©e serait horrifiĂ©e, humiliĂ©e
et dĂ©goĂ»tĂ©e de voir autour de son cou la carcasse d’un serpent, d’un
chien ou d’un humain, le mĂ©ditant qui continue Ă  avoir des pensĂ©es
inappropriées malgré ses réflexions sur des thÚmes bénéfiques, doit
réfléchir aux dangers des pensées inappropriées de cette maniÚre :
‘Vraiment, ces pensĂ©es que j’ai sont inappropriĂ©es, rĂ©prĂ©hensibles, et
porteuses de souffrance’. DĂšs lors, les pensĂ©es nĂ©gatives, inappropriĂ©es
sont abandonnĂ©es et disparaissent. GrĂące Ă  cela, l’esprit retrouve sa
stabilitĂ©, se pose, s’unifie et se concentre en retournant vers son
objet de méditation.
«
Si des pensĂ©es nĂ©gatives, inappropriĂ©es, continuent Ă  venir Ă  l’esprit
d’un mĂ©ditant qui a rĂ©flĂ©chi aux dangers dont elles sont porteuses, il
doit cesser d’y accorder la moindre attention, la moindre rĂ©flexion. DĂšs
lors, les pensées négatives, inappropriées sont abandonnées et

inappropriĂ©es malgrĂ© ses rĂ©flexions sur le fait qu’elles sont porteuses
de souffrance doit cesser d’y accorder la moindre attention, la moindre
