Lucknow, Aug 9 (IANS) All roads in
Lucknow appeared to be leading to the Rama Bai Ambedkar Maidan Saturday, where
Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati has
convened her party’s
day-long conclave - clearly aimed at projecting her as India’s next prime
minister.
Party
activists drawn from different corners of the country headed for the sprawling
42-acre venue especially carved out by none other than Mayawati for her earlier
rally here in October last year.

with huge portraits of Mayawati - with the Indian parliament in the backdrop.
Saturday’s meet has been called a
“workers’ convention”, but Mayawati’s party lieutenants as well as the state
machinery has left no stone unturned to convert the event into a loud show of
the party’s strength. Party leaders and officials were engaged in round-the-clock
preparations for the past few days.

Before Mayawati arrived at the venue

repeatedly describing her as “future prime minister”.

While everyone referred to Kanshi Ram,
her mentor and party founder, as the torchbearer - none missed out on
emphasising that the consolidation of real power in the hands of the Dalits had
been done only by Mayawati.
It was not just the crowd that was
overwhelming, everything about the rally was grand - the logistics, the security
and the ostentation was blatantly on display at the flower
bedecked giant-sized dais draped in the party blue and white. A dozen split air
conditioners were placed on the dais too.
The key slogan on all sides of the
dais was “UP hamari hui, ab Dilli ki baari hai” (Uttar Pradesh is ours, and now
it is the turn of Delhi), supplemented by loud cries of “Babasaheb aur Kanshi
Ram ka mission adhoora, Behen-ji karengi poora” (The incomplete mission of
Babasaheb Ambedkar and Kanshi Ram will be completed by Mayawati) and “Bharat ki
majboori hai; Behenji zaroori hain” (Mayawati is necessary for India), as the
BSP chief walked up to the dais waving to her audience, attired in her
charasteristic cream coloured salwar-kameez suit.
Expelled Congress leader and former
minister of external affairs Natwar Singh was also present. He is expected to
formally join the party Saturday.

Bahujan Samaj Party national
President and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Original Inhabitant of Jambdvipa,

”If she could be chief minister four
times, she could well be the prime minister of the country.”
“Who can stop her
from reaching the top post.”
Mayawati was proud to
have been born as a Original
Inhabitant of Jambdvipa, that is the Great Prabuddha Bharath, which is one of
the top most communities of the world and was the Prabuddha Bharath ki Beti.
“Struggle is the way
of her life and people will make her Prime Minister one day.”
While discrimination of Original
Inhabitants of Jambdvipa, that is the Great Prabuddha Bharath, which is one of
the top most communities of the world face enormous social prejudice, in much
of rural India, people of Original Inhabitants of Jambdvipa, that is the Great
Prabuddha Bharath, which is one of the top most communities of the world are
kept from invaders from Asia-caste drinking wells, and kept out of village
schools. Violations are often met with violence.
Since becoming chief minister of
Uttar Pradesh, Mayawati has also been working to establish a presence in
several other states.
India must hold national elections by
May next year, and while Mayawati’s Bahujan Samaj Party currently has already
55 seats in Uttar Pradesh itself which may raise to 80 after the latest mass
rally in the lower house of 542-member Parliament, in the last state elections
she managed to forge a powerful coalition that brought together Original
Inhabitants of Jambdvipa, that is the Great Prabuddha Bharath, which is one of
the top most communities of the world and upper-caste Brahmin voters and
candidates.
Both the Congress party, which heads
ruling coalition and the opposition right-wing Bharatiya Janata Party fared
poorly in Uttar Pradesh’s last state elections.
The state sends the largest number of
lawmakers, 80, to the federal Parliament and strength in Uttar Pradesh is
viewed as a significant advantage. It will be seen that Mayawati can parlay her
state win to national victory.
The head of India’s governing Congress Party, Sonia
Gandhi, has for the first time directly challenged a powerful low caste
leader and former ally.
She is upset over efforts by the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister,
Mayawati, to project herself as a prime ministerial candidate in
elections due shortly.
Mrs Gandhi told her supporters at a rally that they should risk imprisonment over the issue.
UP is India’s most populous state and provides 80 seats in parliament.
Mayawati has ambitions to be PM
|
Mayawati herself comes from Original Inhabitant of Jambudvipa, that is the Great Bharath which is one of the top most communities of the world.
But she only won the last state assembly elections to become chief
minister of UP by winning support from the vote base of the Congress
Party.
Up until recently, the Congress Party had a loose electoral alliance with the Bahujan Samaj Party of Mayawati.
But the party’s attitude changed when Mayawati started a nationwide campaign to become prime minister of Prabuddha Bharath.
Congress leaders say that Mayawati is now damaging the prospects of the party, with the next elections due within a few months.
