“When the student is ready, the teacher will appear.”

“Buddha was asked,”what have you gained from mediation?”
He replied “NOTHING”! However let me tell you what i have lost: anger,
anxiety, depression, insecurity, fear of old age and death.”

How Did the Buddha Meditate?

Here’s an interesting question: how did the Buddha himself meditate?
Did he meditate the same before and after awakenment with awareness ?
Did he even bother to meditate after his awakenment with awareness? It
turns out to be not much a mystery at all. We pretty much know, and most
of the story is given near the beginning of the SN 54.

Concentration by mindfulness of breathing, when developed and
cultivated, is of great fruit and benefit…I too, monks, before my
awakenment with awareness, while I was still a bodhisatta, not yet fully
awakened with awareness, generally dwelt in this dwelling. While I
generally dwelt in this dwelling, neither my body nor my eyes became
fatigued and my mind, by not clinging, was liberated from the taints.
Therefore, monks, if a monk wishes: “May neither my body nor my eyes
become fatigued and may my mind, by not clinging, be liberated from the
taints,” this same concentration by mindfulness of breathing should be
closely attended to.

-SN 54.1.8 translation by Bhikkhu Bodhi

So the Buddha’s practice before his awakenment with awareness was to
hone his concentration (that is to say jhana practice) through
mindfulness of breathing. What about after his awakenment with
awareness?

At some point long after his awakenment with awareness
when the sangha was firmly in place, he informed his monks that he
would be spending his Vassa (rains retreat) completely alone in solitary
meditation. He didn’t want to see anyone except people bringing him
alms food. I imagine it as sort of a sabbatical to recharge his energy

he use psychic powers to zip around the universe checking out planets?
(Note: this would be high on my list.) Here’s what he said: “If
followers of other teachers ask how I spent my rains retreat, just tell
them he mostly spent his rains retreat in the concentration that comes
from mindfulness of breathing.” (SN 54.2.1)

Before awakenment
with awareness, concentration practice through mindfulness of breathing,
after awakenment with awareness concentration practice through
mindfulness of breathing. As they say, if it’s good enough for the
Buddha…

Shurangama Mantra In Sanskrit - Buddhist Monks Chanting Remove Negative Energy and Banish Evil

Buddhist Music
Published on Dec 5, 2016
The Shurangama Mantra , 古梵音楞嚴咒 (房山石經) is a dharaṇi or long mantra of Buddhist practice in China, Japan and Korea.
Although relatively unknown in modern Tibet, there are several
Shurangama Mantra texts in the Tibetan Buddhist canon. It is associated
with Tangmi and Shingon Buddhism.

The Mantra was according to the
opening chapter of the Śūraṅgama Sūtra, historically transmitted by
Gautama Buddha to Manjusri to protect Ananda before he had become an
arhat. It was again spoken by the Buddha before an assembly of monks and
lay adherents.
Like the popular six-syllable mantra Om mani padme
hum, and the Nilakaṇṭha Dharaṇi, the Shurangama mantra is synonymous
with practices of Avalokiteśvara, an important bodhisattva in both East
Asian Buddhism and Tibetan Buddhism.

The Shurangama Mantra also
extensively references Buddhist deities such as the bodhisattvas
Manjusri, Mahākāla, Sitatapatra Vajrapani and the Five Dhyani Buddhas,
especially Bhaisajyaguru. It is often used for protection, remove
negative energy and banish evil or purification for meditators and is
considered to be part of Shingon Buddhism in Japan.

-SN 54.1.8 Bhikkhu Bodhi

Dia menjawab “TIDAK ADA”!

Bagaimana Sang Buddha Bermeditasi?

planet? (Catatan: ini akan masuk dalam daftar saya.) Inilah yang dia
katakan: “Jika pengikut guru lain bertanya bagaimana saya menghabiskan
kesadaran bernafas. ”(SN 54.2.1)

Sebelum terjaga dengan
kesadaran, latihan konsentrasi melalui kesadaran pernapasan, setelah

Amazing Homemade Chocolate Cake
Yup Foodie
Yup Foodie
42k followers
This Best Chocolate Cake recipe makes for the most flavorful, moist,
and tender chocolate cake you’ve ever tasted! Everyone LOVES it and you
don’t even need a mixer to make the batter. I have a confession to make.
I’m not a big cake fan. As a professional baking blogger I know this is
basically heresy. But I just find the majority of cakes out there to be
either dry and bland, sickly sweet and artificial tasting, or so light
in texture that I would rather have a brownie. Oh no, I could eat this
cake weekly… for eternity! When this best chocolate cake comes out of
the oven, the tops of the layers are actually shiny and slightly
crackled almost like a brownie. That’s how fudgy it is. The cake batter
itself is so crazy easy to whip up. You don’t even need a mixer for the
batter. That allows you to focus your energies on the Chocolate Swiss
Meringue Buttercream, which truly takes this cake to another level. You
could totally have fun and get creative with flavors and fillings here
as well. Maybe add some orange zest to the cake & frosting, some
raspberries or jam to the filling, or some salted caramel for good
measure? But sometimes there’s nothing better than pure chocolate
indulgence. You’ll want to go totally Matilda on this cake! Best
Chocolate Cake Recipe Tips The Chocolate We can’t make the best
chocolate cake without paying attention to the chocolate ingredients!
The cake contains both bittersweet chocolate AND Dutch-process cocoa
powder for as much chocolate flavor as possible. The frosting uses
melted chocolate for the most intense and pure chocolate flavor
possible. I like to use semisweet, but feel free to use milk or
bittersweet chocolate. Just make sure you’re using the highest quality
chocolate you can. Do I have to use Dutch process cocoa powder? Yes, I
do recommend you stick with the Dutch-process cocoa as it actually works
differently on a chemical level compared to regular natural cocoa. You
can find it at many gourmet food stores, like Target, Whole Foods, Sur
la Table, and Williams-Sonoma. Espresso Powder You may have seen a few
chocolate cake recipes that utilize hot water or even hot coffee. When
the hot liquid is combined with the cocoa powder, it helps to dissolve
and ‘bloom’ the cocoa powder to bring out as much flavor with as few
cocoa lumps as possible. In this recipe, I use a combination of hot
water and instant espresso powder. The espresso simply enhances the
chocolate flavor without actually tasting like coffee. Alternatively,
you could use strong hot coffee for the same effect. I never have coffee
on hand so for me, espresso powder + hot water is easier and cleaner.
If you don’t like coffee or espresso, just use hot water. Oil vs. Butter
This recipe calls for vegetable oil instead of melted butter. Oil
creates an ultra moist texture and open slightly spongy crumb. Cakes
made with oil feel more “moist” because the fat is a liquid at room
temperature so it coats the tongue. Be sure to use fresh vegetable oil.
Give it a sniff before using to make sure it doesn’t have any off
flavors. Feel free to use melted coconut oil instead of vegetable oil!
Sugar This recipe uses a combination of granulated and brown sugars,
which creates a cake that’s flavorful, moist, and fudgy. Eggs The more
whole eggs a cake recipe has, the richer it’ll be. Since the egg yolk
contains most of the fat in an egg, it also lends richness to cakes.
Adding an egg yolk to this recipe also helped increase the fudge factor.
Be sure your eggs are at room temperature so they blend into the batter
smoothly. Sour Cream This also adds such a lovely richness and balance
of flavor to cake. Full fat plain Greek yogurt also makes a fine
substitute if you don’t have sour cream. Be sure to use room temperature
sour cream. The Frosting This recipe uses my all time favorite
frosting: Chocolate Swiss Meringue Buttercream. It is a little more
advanced, but the result is a frosting so silky, smooth, creamy, and
not-too-sweet that it’s 100000% worth the effort. The ingredients &
directions are included in the cake recipe below. I think the best part
about this buttercream frosting is how easy it is to work with. It
literally just glides right onto the cake effortlessly. Since it is so
silky, though, it’s not the best frosting to use for any super intricate
cake decorating. If you don’t want to make Swiss Meringue Buttercream,
you could use make a double batch of dark chocolate buttercream instead.
How to Make Ahead of Time Cake layers: You can wrap unfrosted un-cut
cooled cake layers completely in several layers of plastic wrap. Place
inside a freezer bag. Store at room temperature for up to 5 days, or in
the freezer for up to 2 months. Defrost overnight in the fridge.
Frosting: Frosting can be made 1 day ahead of time and stored in an
airtight container in the refrigerator. Warm frosting in the microwave
for 5 to 10 seconds and stir until creamy again before frosting cake.
Frosting can also be transferred to a ziptop bag and frozen for up to 1
month. Defrost in the fridge overnight then rewhip in the stand mixer
until light and smooth. Assembled cake: Since frosting acts as a
protective seal that keeps the cake moist and fresh, frosted cakes can
be stored at a cool and dry room temperature for up to 2 days. Cover
with a cake keeper to keep the frosting intact. Don’t use plastic wrap,
which will not only ruin your frosting but also create condensation that
can cause the frosting to separate. I personally don’t worry about
keeping frosting at room temperature since the sugar acts as a
preservative, but if this concerns you then just keep the cake in the
fridge. Print Best Homemade Chocolate Cake Prep Time: 20 minutes Cook
Time: 40 minutes Total Time: 1 hour Yield: 12 Servings Ingredients For
the cake: 8 ounces (227 grams) bittersweet chocolate, finely chopped 2/3
cup (57 grams) Dutch-process cocoa, sifted 2 teaspoons instant espresso
powder* 1 cup boiling water 1 3/4 (222 grams) cups all-purpose flour 1
cup (200 grams) granulated sugar 1/2 cup (100 grams) packed light brown
sugar 1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon baking soda 1 cup (227 grams) sour
cream, at room temperature 1/2 cup vegetable oil* 4 large eggs plus one
egg yolk, at room temperature 1 tablespoon white vinegar 2 teaspoons
vanilla extract For the frosting: 2/3 cup (133 grams) granulated sugar 4
large egg whites 1/4 teaspoon salt 3 sticks (340 grams) unsalted
butter, cut into 12 pieces and at room temperature 12 ounces (340 grams)
semisweet chocolate, melted and cooled slightly 1 teaspoon vanilla
extract Instructions Make the cake: In a medium heatproof bowl add the
chocolate, cocoa powder, and espresso powder. Pour hot water over
mixture. Cover and let stand for 5 minutes. Whisk mixture gently until
smooth then set aside to cool. Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 350°F.
Butter and flour two 8-inch round cake pans. In a small bowl, whisk
together the flour, sugars, salt, and baking soda. Whisk sour cream,
oil, eggs, egg yolk, vinegar, and vanilla into the cooled chocolate
mixture until smooth. Stir in the flour mixture until smooth, being
careful not to overmix. Pour the batter into the prepared pans and bake
for 35 to 40 minutes, or until a cake tester comes out clean. Cool in
the pans for 30 minutes, then carefully turn them out onto a cooling
rack to cool completely. Make the frosting: Combine the sugar, egg
whites, and salt in the bowl of a stand mixer. Set bowl over a saucepan
filled with 1-inch of gently simmering water. Whisking gently and
constantly, heat mixture until sugar is dissolved and mixture is
slightly thickened and foamy and registers 150°F on a candy thermometer
or a digital thermometer, about 3 minutes. Fit stand mixer with whisk
attachment and beat the egg white mixture on medium speed until slightly
cooled and thickened, about 2 minutes. Add the butter, 1 piece at a
time, until smooth and creamy. If the mixture looks curdled, that’s
okay. Just keep beating until it becomes smooth. If the butter becomes
too warm and greasy, refrigerate the bowl for 10 to 15 minutes then
continue to beat until smooth. Add chocolate and vanilla and mix until
combined. Increase speed to medium-high and beat until light, fluffy,
and well combined, about 30 seconds, scraping down the sides of the bowl
as necessary. Assemble: Place one cake layer on a cake turntable or
cake stand. Spread an even layer of frosting all of the cake layer,
pushing it out over the edge just slightly. Place the other cake layer
upside-down on top of the frosting so that the top of the cake is nice
and flat. With an offset spatula, spread the remaining frosting evenly
all over the cake, smoothing the edges. Serve or cover and store in the
fridge for up to 2 days. Let come to room temperature for an hour before
serving. Recipe Notes If you don’t have espresso powder, you can use 1
cup hot coffee in place of the powder + boiling water. This recipe uses
vegetable oil, make sure it’s fresh and doesn’t have an off smell before
using. 6.0.4 https://yupfoodie.com/reci…/amazing-homemade-chocolate-cake/

The animated movie, The Osha Castle Tragedy, is a story based on an
historical event that took place in India, and is one of the most famous
events in the history of Buddhism.

Sakyamuni Buddha teaches about this event in tha KanmuryojuKyo, also
known as The Meditation Sutra. The central theme is the purpose of life,
and how to realize it by following the teachings of Sakyamuni Buddha.

The Osha Castle Tragedy recalls image of 2,600 years ago.

Sakyamuni Buddha used skills to guide Queen Idaike toward her
salvation. Queen Idaike was the first person on Earth to be saved by

Bhikkhu Bodhi

Do’s and Don’ts in Myanmar

Myanmar has only recently opened its doors to foreign travelers; after
years of relative insulation from the outside world, the Burmese now
have to contend with droves of foreigners with no idea how the locals
work and live.

But the country isn’t completely opaque as far as
customs and traditions go. As Myanmar is a culturally Mahayana Buddhist
country, like its neighbors Cambodia and Thailand, its citizens follow
norms and traditions closely associated with the local religion. Follow
these simple rules, and you can make your way through Myanmar without
offending the locals.

Asian ways: Read about Etiquette in
Cambodia and Do’s and Don’t’s in Thailand - two countries that share
many of Myanmar’s rules about heads and feet.

Understanding the Culture

Learn a few words from the local language; use them when you can.
The Burmese people are a generally open and friendly people, much more
so when you can talk to them (however haltingly) in their own tongue.
These two words go a long way in fostering goodwill as you travel in
Myanmar:
Mengalaba (pronounced as Meng- Gah- Lah- Bar)= Hello
Chesube (pronounced as Tseh-Soo- Beh)= Thank you
Go local. The Burmese appreciate the effort of your trying to
observe their way of living. Try wearing Burmese clothes, like the
Longyi (for women) and Pasu (for men). These are worn in place of pants
or skirts, as they have plenty of ventilation compared to their Western
counterparts. For more on the merits of wearing Myanmar’s national
dress, read about the longyi and why it’s good manners to wear it.

Try some of the local customs, too, like wearing thanaka makeup and
chewing Kun-ya, or betel nut. Thanaka is a paste made from thanaka tree
bark, and is painted on the cheeks and nose. The Burmese say thanaka is
an effective sunblock.
Kun-ya is more of an acquired taste; the
Burmese wrap areca nuts and dried herbs in betel leaves, then chew the
wad; this is what stains and distorts their teeth.
Participate
in local festivals. So long as they do not disrespect the proceedings,
tourists are allowed to participate in any traditional celebrations
going on at the time of their visit.

Respecting Personal Space

Watch where you point that camera. Stupas and landscapes are fair
game for tourist photographers; people aren’t. Always ask permission
before taking a shot of locals. Just because women are bathing out in
the open doesn’t make it OK to snap a picture; quite the opposite.

Taking pictures of meditating monks is considered very disrespectful.
Certain far-flung tribes in Myanmar also frown on tourists taking
pictures of pregnant women.
Respect the local religious customs.
Most Burmese are devout Buddhists, and while they will not impose their
beliefs on visitors, they will expect you to pay due respect to their
traditional practices. Wear appropriate clothes when visiting religious
sites, and don’t violate their space: avoid touching a monk’s robes, and
don’t disturb praying or meditating people in temples.

What
not to wear: For appropriate clothing in temples and other important
tips, read about Do’s and Don’ts for Buddhist Temples.
Mind your
body language. The Burmese, like their religious compatriots around
Southeast Asia, have strong feelings about the head and feet. The head
is considered holy, while the feet are considered impure.
So
keep your hands off people’s heads; touching other people’s heads is
considered the height of disrespect, something to avoid doing even to
children.
Watch what you do with your feet, too: you shouldn’t
point to or touch objects with them, and you should tuck them under
yourself when sitting on the ground or floor. Don’t sit with your feet
pointing away from your body - or worse - pointing at a person or a
pagoda.

Don’t show affection in public. Myanmar is still a
conservative country, and the locals may be offended by public displays
of affection. So when traveling with a loved one, no hugs and kisses in
public, please!

Following the Law

Don’t disrespect the
Buddha. Images of the Buddha may be used in a lighthearted way in the
rest of the world, but Myanmar marches to the beat of a different drum.
Articles 295 and 295(a) of the Myanmar Penal Code prescribe up to four
years’ imprisonment for “insulting religion” and “hurting religious
feelings”, and the authorities will not hesitate to use them against
foreigners they believe are using the image of the Buddha in a
disrespectful fashion.
New Zealander Philip Blackwood and
Canadian Jason Polley both experienced harassment for their perceived
disrespect of the Buddha; the latter got out of Dodge, but the former
was sentenced to two years in prison. For what they did, what happened
afterward, and the implications of Myanmar’s harsh treatment of
perceived religious disrespect, read this: Traveling in Myanmar? Respect
the Buddha… or Else.

Shop responsibly. When visiting
Myanmar’s markets and shops, make sure you’re not plundering the
country’s precious natural and cultural resources in the process.

Avoid purchasing questionable wildlife products, like items made from
ivory or animal skin. The government is fighting a tough battle against
Chinese demand in these illegal products; help them by not supporting
this kind of trade.
Take care when buying arts and crafts,
particularly antiques. Authorized antique stores provide certificates of
authenticity with every purchase, protecting you from counterfeit
items. Remember that antiques of a religious nature cannot be taken out
of Myanmar.

Change your money at authorized money changers,
not the black market. Black market moneychangers can be found all over
local markets, but don’t bother. You’ll get better rates at authorized
changers: local banks, some hotels, and at Yangon airport. (Read more
about Myanmar money.)
Don’t visit restricted areas. There are
still a lot of places in Myanmar that are closed to tourists. The
reasons vary: some are protected tribal areas, others have terrain
impassable to ordinary tourist traffic, and others are hotspots for
ongoing religious conflicts.

Bhikkhu Bodhi

lo lắng, trầm cảm, bất an, sợ già và chết.

Buddha
was born as prince Siddhartha Gautama, in northern India, in a place,
which now is part of Nepal. His exact lifetime is uncertain, but most
historians date his lifetime from 563 BC to 483 BC.

The meaning of the word Buddha is “The Enlightened One”, or “The Awakened One”, and refers to one who has become enlightened.

Buddha Quotes on Peace and Meditation

1. “Peace comes from within. Do not seek it without.”

2. “You will always be getting praise and blame, but do not let either affect the poise of the mind.”

3. “Inward calm cannot be maintained unless physical strength is constantly and intelligently replenished.”

4. “Do not overrate what you have received, nor envy others. He who envies others does not obtain peace of mind.”

5. “Those who have destroyed the roots of jealousy have peace of mind always.”

6. “Better than a thousand hollow words, is one word that brings peace.”

7.
“A man is not called wise because he talks and talks again; but is he
peaceful, loving and fearless then he is in truth called wise.”

8.
“Meditation brings wisdom; lack of meditation leaves ignorance. Know
well what leads you forward and what hold you back, and choose the path
that leads to wisdom.”

9. “Meditate. Live purely. Be quiet. Do your work with mastery. Like the moon, come out from behind the clouds! Shine.”

10.
“If you are quiet enough, you will hear the flow of the universe. You
will feel its rhythm. Go with this flow. Happiness lies ahead.
Meditation is key.”

Awakeness Practices

All 84,000 Khandas As Found in the Pali Suttas

Traditionally the are 84,000 Dharma Doors - 84,000 ways to get
Awakeness. Maybe so; certainly the Buddha taught a large number of
practices that lead to Awakeness. This web page attempts to catalogue
those found in the Pali Suttas (DN, MN, SN, AN, Ud & Sn 1). There
are 3 sections:

The discourses of Buddha are divided into 84,000, as to separate
addresses. The division includes all that was spoken by Buddha.”I
received from Buddha,” said Ananda, “82,000 Khandas, and  from the
priests 2000; these are 84,000 Khandas maintained by me.” They are
divided into 275,250, as to the stanzas of the original text, and into
361,550, as to the stanzas of the commentary. All the discourses
including both those of
Buddha and those of the commentator, are divided  into 2,547 banawaras,
containing 737,000 stanzas, and 29,368,000 separate letters.

Maha-parinibbana Sutta — Last Days of the Buddha

The Great Discourse on the Total Unbinding

This
wide-ranging sutta, the longest one in the Pali canon, describes the
events leading up to, during, and immediately following the death and
final release (parinibbana) of the Buddha. This colorful narrative
contains a wealth of Dhamma teachings, including the Buddha’s final
instructions that defined how Buddhism would be lived and practiced long
after the Buddha’s death — even to this day. But this sutta also
depicts, in simple language, the poignant human drama that unfolds among
the Buddha’s many devoted followers around the time of the death of
their beloved teacher.
