He replied “NOTHING”! However let me tell you what i have lost: anger,
anxiety, depression, insecurity, fear of old age and death.”

How Did the Buddha Meditate?


Here’s an interesting question: how did the Buddha himself meditate?
Did he meditate the same before and after awakenment with awareness ?
Did he even bother to meditate after his awakenment with awareness? It
turns out to be not much a mystery at all. We pretty much know, and most
of the story is given near the beginning of the SN 54.


Concentration by mindfulness of breathing, when developed and
cultivated, is of great fruit and benefit…I too, monks, before my
awakenment with awareness, while I was still a bodhisatta, not yet fully
awakened with awareness, generally dwelt in this dwelling. While I
generally dwelt in this dwelling, neither my body nor my eyes became
fatigued and my mind, by not clinging, was liberated from the taints.
Therefore, monks, if a monk wishes: “May neither my body nor my eyes
become fatigued and may my mind, by not clinging, be liberated from the
taints,” this same concentration by mindfulness of breathing should be
closely attended to.

So the Buddha’s practice before his awakenment with awareness was to
hone his concentration (that is to say jhana practice) through
mindfulness of breathing. What about after his awakenment with
awareness?

would be spending his Vassa (rains retreat) completely alone in solitary
meditation. He didn’t want to see anyone except people bringing him
alms food. I imagine it as sort of a sabbatical to recharge his energy
for the next seasons teaching. So what did he do for those 3 months? Did
he use psychic powers to zip around the universe checking out planets?
(Note: this would be high on my list.) Here’s what he said: “If

бедор шуданаш бо огоҳӣ ҳатто медит кардан лозим буд? Чунин мешавад, ки
аслан сирре нест. Мо хеле медонем ва қисми зиёди достон дар оғози SN 54
дода шудааст.

Консентратсия бо ёдоварӣ ба нафаскашӣ, вақте ки
инкишоф ва парвариш меёбад, самараи хуб ба даст меорад … Ман ҳам,
роҳибон, пеш аз бедоршавӣ бо огоҳӣ, дар ҳоле ки ман ҳанӯз бободиҳат
будам, ки ҳанӯз бо огоҳӣ пурра бедор нашуда будам, дар ин хона истиқомат
мекардам. Ҳангоме ки ман дар ин хона умр ба сар мебурдам, ҷасади ман ва
чашмонам хаста нашуданд ва ақли ман аз часпидан озод нашуд. Аз ин рӯ,
роҳибон, агар як моне бихоҳад: “На аз баданам ва на чашм хаста нашавам
ва фикри ман аз бандҳо раҳо нашавад” ин консентратсия бо ёдоварии
нафаскашӣ бояд бодиққат риоя карда шавад.

Ҳамин тавр, амалияи Буддо қабл аз бедор шуданаш бо огоҳӣ нафас кашидан
аз тамаркузи худ буд (яъне амалияи зана). Аммо пас аз бедоршавии ӯ бо
огоҳӣ чӣ мешавад?

Пас аз чанд лаҳза пас аз бедор шуданаш бо
огоҳии вақте ки Санга дар ҷои устувор буд, ӯ ба обидони худ хабар дод,
ки вай Вассаашро (бо боридани борон) танҳо дар мулоҳизаи танҳоӣ сарф
мекунад. Ва Ӯ намехост, ки ҷуз касе назди ӯ хӯрок оварад. Ман тасаввур
мекунам, ки қуввати худро барои таълими фаслҳои оянда пур кардани саба
буд. Пас дар ин 3 моҳ ӯ чӣ кор кард? Оё вай қудрати рӯҳиро барои ғалаба
кардани сайёраҳо истифода бурдааст? (Эзоҳ: ин дар рӯйхати ман баланд
хоҳад буд.) Ин аст он чизе ки ӯ гуфт: “Агар пайравони муаллимони дигар
аз ман бипурсанд, ки ман борони борони маро чӣ гуна сарф кардам, танҳо
ба онҳо бигӯед, ки ӯ боронҳои худро дар консентратсияе, ки аз нафаскашӣ
бармеояд, сарф кардааст. ”(SN 54.2.1)

Phule, the Bharatiya Janata Party member of Parliament from Bahraich,
Uttar Pradesh, resigned from the party on Thursday, December 6, after
speaking out against its policies over the last few months.

While
resigning on a day that marked Dr Ambedkar’s 62nd death anniversary,
Phule — a SC MP — said the BJP is dividing Indian society and was not
interested in the welfare of the SC/ST community, but only in its votes.

Phule
has been raising her voice openly against the BJP since April after
several states witnessed violence during the Bharat Bandh called by
SC/ST organisations to protest the alleged dilution of the SC/ST
(Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

What led you to quit the BJP?

The ideology of the BJP is to insult and humiliate SC/STs and minorities.

India
should be run according to the Indian Constitution, but the BJP wants
to run it according to Manusmriti (The laws of Manu, an ancient Hindu
religious legal text).

I have been feeling this since 2014 and I
have raised these concerns even in the Lok Sabha. But being a SC my
voice was not heard.

There is a conspiracy going on to change the Indian Constitution and this was stated by BJP Minister Ananth Kumar Hegde.

Even
RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) chief Mohan Bhagwat said (before the
Bihar assembly elections in 2015) that they will re-examine caste-based
reservations.

You said similar things earlier. Were you not called by senior party leaders to discuss these issues?

In
the BJP, SC/STs do not get any respect. SC/ST leaders do get elected
(on reserved seats) on a BJP ticket, but they become slaves of the
party.

The BJP has been tinkering with the Indian Constitution
every now and then, but not a single SC/ST leader has dared to go and
speak up against this wrongdoing.

Today, I am a member of
Parliament and it is only thanks to reservations. If there were no
reservations, I would not have been an MP.

And when I raise
issues related to reservations within the party, I am called a rebel. I
am only raising the concerns of the SC/ST community.

Instead of
celebrating November 26 as Constitution Day, the BJP was more interested
in (the Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s) Dharam Sabha (in Ayodhya) which was
called that day.

They were talking of the Ram Mandir that day. This shows they believe more in the Ram mandir than in the Constitution.

I have been speaking on SC/ST issues continuously since 2014. It is not that I have woken up now.

they do that. But they forget that the Epic Ramayana was authored by
Scheduled Caste Valmiki and Rama was its hero. Even Mahabharata was
authored by Vyasa an SC/ST. But they use them just for their Hindutva
vote bank.

Dr Babasaheb’s statues are being defiled in Saharanpur, Meerut, Allahabad and ask me where not.

The people who break Dr Babasaheb’s statues are never arrested. Why?

The BJP is not a party for SC/STs it only wants their votes.

And when they come to power they insult and humiliate us.

And now the party’s attention has completely turned towards a Ram mandir in Ayodhya.

The Ram mandir has always been on the BJP’s agenda.

Only foreigners from Bene Israel chitpavan Brahmins will benefit from the Ram mandir, not SC/STs.

What will ST/STs get out of the Ram mandir? Nothing.

These chitpavan Brahmins scare poor SC/STs in the name of god and they run this temple business.

I am working for the Bahujan Samaj and it is my duty to speak up for SC/STs

If a SC/ST is wronged, I will raise my voice.

Did you ever speak Modi on atrocities against the SC/STs?

I have spoken regularly, but till date SC/ST have not got justice.

SC/STs are not getting reservations in jobs today and they are always insulted.

The Supreme Court said give 27 per cent reservations, but only 5 per cent is being given.

Moreover, SC/STs do not get promotions in their jobs. I raised this issue in the Lok Sabha, but no one heard my pleas.

Before resigning from the BJP, did you speak to Modi or tried to meet (BJP national President) Amit (Anilchandra) Shah?

I have told them that they must follow the Constitution as it is the best in the world.

It brings equality in society.

“Gofynnwyd i Bwdha,” beth ydych chi wedi’i ennill o gyfryngu? ”
Atebodd “DIM”! Fodd bynnag, gadewch imi ddweud wrthych beth yr wyf wedi’i golli: dicter,
pryder, iselder ysbryd, ansicrwydd, ofn henaint a marwolaeth. ”

Sut wnaeth y Bwdha Fyfyrio?


Dyma gwestiwn diddorol: sut wnaeth y Bwdha ei hun fyfyrio? A fyfyriodd
yr un peth cyn ac ar ôl deffro gydag ymwybyddiaeth? A oedd hyd yn oed yn
trafferthu myfyrio ar ôl ei ddeffroad gydag ymwybyddiaeth? Mae’n
ymddangos nad yw’n llawer o ddirgelwch o gwbl. Rydyn ni’n gwybod bron
iawn, a rhoddir y rhan fwyaf o’r stori bron i ddechrau’r SN 54.


Mae crynodiad gan ymwybyddiaeth ofalgar o anadlu, wrth gael ei ddatblygu
a’i drin, o ffrwyth a budd mawr … Roeddwn i hefyd, fynachod, cyn fy
neffro gydag ymwybyddiaeth, tra roeddwn i’n dal i fodhisatta, heb fy
neffro’n llawn gydag ymwybyddiaeth, yn gyffredinol yn byw yn yr annedd
hon. Er fy mod yn gyffredinol yn preswylio yn yr annedd hon, ni aeth fy
nghorff na fy llygaid yn dew a rhyddhawyd fy meddwl, trwy beidio â
glynu, rhag y llygadau. Felly, mynachod, os yw mynach yn dymuno: “Na
fydded i fy nghorff na fy llygaid fynd yn dew ac efallai na fydd fy
meddwl, trwy beidio â glynu, yn cael ei ryddhau o’r taintiau,” dylid
rhoi sylw agos i’r un crynodiad hwn gan ymwybyddiaeth ofalgar o anadlu.

Felly arfer y Bwdha cyn ei ddeffroad gydag ymwybyddiaeth oedd hogi ei
ganolbwyntio (hynny yw ymarfer jhana) trwy ymwybyddiaeth ofalgar o
anadlu. Beth am ar ôl ei ddeffroad gydag ymwybyddiaeth?

Ar ryw
adeg ymhell ar ôl iddo ddeffro gydag ymwybyddiaeth pan oedd y sangha yn
ei le yn gadarn, hysbysodd ei fynachod y byddai’n gwario ei Vassa
(glawiad yn cilio) yn gyfan gwbl ar ei ben ei hun mewn myfyrdod unig.
Nid oedd eisiau gweld unrhyw un heblaw pobl yn dod â bwyd alms iddo.
Rwy’n ei ddychmygu fel math o gyfnod sabothol i ailwefru ei egni ar
gyfer y tymhorau nesaf yn dysgu. Felly beth wnaeth e am y 3 mis hynny? A
ddefnyddiodd bwerau seicig i sipian o amgylch y bydysawd yn gwirio
planedau? (Sylwch: byddai hyn yn uchel ar fy rhestr.) Dyma beth
ddywedodd: “Os yw dilynwyr athrawon eraill yn gofyn sut y treuliais fy
glawogydd yn cilio, dywedwch wrthynt ei fod wedi treulio ei law yn cilio
yn y crynodiad a ddaw o ymwybyddiaeth ofalgar o anadlu. ”(SN 54.2.1)


Cyn deffro gydag ymwybyddiaeth, ymarfer canolbwyntio trwy ymwybyddiaeth
ofalgar o anadlu, ar ôl deffro gydag ymarfer canolbwyntio ymwybyddiaeth
trwy ymwybyddiaeth ofalgar o anadlu. Fel maen nhw’n dweud, os yw’n
