“When the student is ready, the teacher will appear.”
“Buddha was asked,”what have you gained from mediation?”
He replied “NOTHING”! However let me tell you what i have lost: anger,
anxiety, depression, insecurity, fear of old age and death.”
How Did the Buddha Meditate?
Here’s an interesting question: how did the Buddha himself meditate?
Did he meditate the same before and after awakenment with awareness ?
Did he even bother to meditate after his awakenment with awareness? It
turns out to be not much a mystery at all. We pretty much know, and most
of the story is given near the beginning of the SN 54.
Concentration by mindfulness of breathing, when developed and
cultivated, is of great fruit and benefit…I too, monks, before my
awakenment with awareness, while I was still a bodhisatta, not yet fully
awakened with awareness, generally dwelt in this dwelling. While I
generally dwelt in this dwelling, neither my body nor my eyes became
fatigued and my mind, by not clinging, was liberated from the taints.
Therefore, monks, if a monk wishes: “May neither my body nor my eyes
become fatigued and may my mind, by not clinging, be liberated from the
taints,” this same concentration by mindfulness of breathing should be
closely attended to.

So the Buddha’s practice before his awakenment with awareness was to
hone his concentration (that is to say jhana practice) through
mindfulness of breathing. What about after his awakenment with
awareness?
At some point long after his awakenment with awareness
when the sangha was firmly in place, he informed his monks that he
would be spending his Vassa (rains retreat) completely alone in solitary
meditation. He didn’t want to see anyone except people bringing him
alms food. I imagine it as sort of a sabbatical to recharge his energy
for the next seasons teaching. So what did he do for those 3 months? Did
he use psychic powers to zip around the universe checking out planets?
(Note: this would be high on my list.) Here’s what he said: “If
followers of other teachers ask how I spent my rains retreat, just tell
them he mostly spent his rains retreat in the concentration that comes
from mindfulness of breathing.” (SN 54.2.1)

after awakenment with awareness concentration practice through
mindfulness of breathing. As they say, if it’s good enough for the

Ево једног занимљивог питања: како је Буда сам медитирао? Да ли је исто
медитирао пре и после буђења са свешћу? Да ли се уопште мучио да
медитира након буђења свешћу? Испада да уопште није мистерија. Прилично
знамо, и већина приче је дата на почетку СН 54.
Усредсређеност на
дисање, када се развија и култивира, је од великог плода и користи … И
ја сам, монаси, пре мог буђења свешћу, док сам још увек био бодисатта,
још увек не пробуђен свешћу, углавном пребивао у овом стану. Док сам се
углавном становао у овом стану, ни тело ни очи нису се умориле и мој ум,
неслајући се, ослобођен је од нечистоће. Стога, монаси, ако монах жели:
„Ни моје тело, ни очи не уморити се и мој ум, не стежући, бити
ослобођен таната,“ тој истој концентрацији умном дисању треба прискочити
пажљиво.

ovocím a prínosom … Aj ja mnísi, pred tým, ako som sa prebudil s
vedomím, kým som bol stále bódhisatta, ktorá ešte nebola úplne prebudená
vedomím, vo všeobecnosti bývala v tomto obydlí. Kým som obyčajne bývala
v tomto obydlí, ani moje telo, ani moje oči neboli unavené a moja

toto by malo byť vysoko na mojom zozname.) Tu je to, čo povedal: „Ak sa
stúpenci ostatných učiteľov pýtajú, ako som strávil ústup dažďov,
povedzte im, že väčšinou dážď ustúpil v koncentrácii, ktorá pochádza z

Kako je Buda meditiral?
Tu je zanimivo vprašanje: kako je Buda sam meditiral? Je isto meditiral
pred in po prebujanju z zavedanjem? Se je po prebujanju z zavedanjem
sploh trudil meditirati? Izkazalo se je, da sploh ni veliko skrivnost.
Precej vemo in večina zgodbe je podana blizu začetka SN 54.
Usmerjenost z zavedanjem dihanja je, ko se razvija in goji, v veliko
korist in korist … Tudi jaz sem menihi, preden sem se prebudil z
zavedanjem, medtem ko sem bil še bodizata, še ne popolnoma prebuden z

preživel povsem sam v samotni meditaciji. Ni hotel videti nikogar, razen
ljudi, ki mu prinašajo milostinjo. Predstavljam si kot nekakšno soboto,
s katero si napolnimo energijo za poučevanje naslednjih sezon. Torej,
kaj je počel za tiste 3 mesece? Je uporabil psihične moči, da je zadihal

seznamu.) Tukaj je rekel: “Če sledilci drugih učiteljev vprašajo, kako
sem preživel svoje deževje, jim povejte, da je večinoma preživel svoj

Hur mediterade Buddha?
Här är en intressant fråga: hur mediterade Buddha själv? Mediterade han
samma sak före och efter uppvaknande med medvetenhet? Bryde han till
och med meditera efter att han var medveten? Det visar sig inte alls
vara ett mysterium. Vi vet ganska mycket, och det mesta av historien ges
nära början av SN 54.
Koncentration genom andningsfulla
andningsförhållanden, när den utvecklas och odlas, är av stor frukt och
fördel … Jag, munkar, före min uppvaknande med medvetenhet, medan jag
fortfarande var en bodhisatta, ännu inte helt väckt av medvetenhet,
bodde i allmänhet i denna bostad. Medan jag vanligtvis bodde i denna
bostad, blev varken min kropp eller mina ögon trötta och mitt sinne,
genom att inte hålla mig fast, befriades från tainterna. Därför, munkar,
om en munk önskar: ”Får varken min kropp eller mina ögon tröttna och
får mina tankar, genom att inte klamra sig, befrias från tainterna,”
denna samma koncentration av andas medvetenhet bör följas noga.

Så Buddhas övning innan hans uppvaknande med medvetenhet var att
finslipa sin koncentration (det vill säga jhana-praxis) genom
andningsfullhet. Vad sägs om efter hans vaken med medvetenhet?
Vid någon tidpunkt långt efter hans uppvaknande med medvetenhet när
sangha var på plats, meddelade han sina munkar att han skulle spendera
sin Vassa (regn reträtt) helt ensam i ensammeditation. Han ville inte se
någon förutom att folk förde honom allvar mat. Jag föreställer mig det
som en sabbatsdag att ladda hans energi för undervisningen nästa
säsonger. Så vad gjorde han under de tre månaderna? Använde han psykiska
krafter för att zipa runt universum och kolla planeter? (Observera:
detta skulle stå högt på min lista.) Här är vad han sa: ”Om följare av
andra lärare frågar hur jag tillbringade min regn reträtt, berätta bara
för dem att han mestadels tillbringade sin regn reträtt i den
koncentration som kommer från mindfulness av andning. ”(SN 54.2.1)
Innan uppvaknande medvetenhet, öva koncentration genom andas
uppmärksamhet, efter uppväckning med uppmärksamhet koncentration övning
genom andas uppmärksamhet. Som de säger, om det är tillräckligt bra för
