anxiety, depression, insecurity, fear of old age and death.”

How Did the Buddha Meditate?


Here’s an interesting question: how did the Buddha himself meditate?
Did he meditate the same before and after awakenment with awareness ?
Did he even bother to meditate after his awakenment with awareness? It
turns out to be not much a mystery at all. We pretty much know, and most
of the story is given near the beginning of the SN 54.


Concentration by mindfulness of breathing, when developed and
cultivated, is of great fruit and benefit…I too, monks, before my
awakenment with awareness, while I was still a bodhisatta, not yet fully
awakened with awareness, generally dwelt in this dwelling. While I
generally dwelt in this dwelling, neither my body nor my eyes became
fatigued and my mind, by not clinging, was liberated from the taints.
Therefore, monks, if a monk wishes: “May neither my body nor my eyes
become fatigued and may my mind, by not clinging, be liberated from the
taints,” this same concentration by mindfulness of breathing should be

So the Buddha’s practice before his awakenment with awareness was to
hone his concentration (that is to say jhana practice) through

سیاروں کی جانچ پڑتال کے لئے کائنات کے گرد زپ کرنے کیلئے نفسیاتی طاقتوں
کا استعمال کیا؟ (نوٹ: یہ میری فہرست میں اونچا ہوگا۔) انہوں نے کہا یہ ہے:
“اگر دوسرے اساتذہ کے پیروکار یہ پوچھتے ہیں کہ میں نے اپنی بارشوں کو کس
طرح پیچھے ہٹنا گزارا ہے تو ، صرف انھیں بتائیں کہ انہوں نے زیادہ تر بارش
اس اعتکاف میں گزار دی ہے جو سانس لینے کے ذہن میں آتا ہے۔ ”(ایس این

بیداری کے ساتھ بیداری سے پہلے ، سانس لینے کی ذہنیت کے
ذریعے حراستی کی مشق کریں ، سانس لینے کے ذہن کے ذریعے بیداری کے ساتھ

बुद्धले कसरी ध्यान गरे?


यहाँ एउटा चाखलाग्दो प्रश्न छ: कसरी बुद्धले स्वयं ध्यान गरे? के उनले
जागरुकताको साथ ब्यूँझनु अघि र पछाडि उस्तै चिन्तन गरे? के उनले जागरुकताको
साथ ब्यूँझनु भएपछि पनि ध्यान गर्ने कष्ट गरे? यो सबै मा धेरै मा एक रहस्य
छैन बाहिर जान्छ। हामी धेरै जान्दछौं, र धेरै जसो कथा SN 54 को शुरूको
नजिकै दिइएको छ।

सास फेर्ने बित्तिकै सास फेर्दै सांद्रता, ठूलो फल र
फाइदाको हो… म पनि भिक्षुहरू, मेरो जागृति हुनु अघि जागरूकतासहित, जबकि म
अझै बोधिसत्त्वमा थिएँ, अझै जागरूकताको साथ पूर्ण जागृत नभएको हुँ,
सामान्यतया यस बासस्थानमा बस्थ्यो। जब म सामान्य रूपमा यस बासस्थानमा
बसिरहेको थिएँ, मेरो शरीर र आँखा थाम्न सकेन र मेरो दिमाग, टाँसिएन भने
दाँतबाट स्वतन्त्र भएन। तसर्थ, भिक्षुहरू, यदि एक भिक्षुले यसो भन्छ: “न त
मेरो शरीर न त मेरा आँखा थकित हुनेछन् र न मेरो हृदय, नचिकारेर दाँतहरूबाट
स्वतन्त्र हुन सकूँ,” सास फेर्दै सास फेर्ने उस्तै एकाग्रतालाई ध्यान दिएर
हेर्नुपर्दछ।

त्यसैले बुद्धको चेतना संग जागृत हुनु भन्दा पहिलेको अभ्यास भनेको उनीहरुको

भएको धेरै समय पछि जब संघ दृढतापूर्वक थियो, उनले आफ्ना भिक्षुहरूलाई उनी
आफ्नो भिसा (वर्षा रिट्रेट) लाई एक्लो एकाकीपनमा पूर्णतया एक्लै खर्च
गरिरहेको जानकारी दिए। ऊ कसैलाई पनि हेर्न आउँदैन थियो मान्छेले उसलाई
भिक्षा ल्याउने बाहेक। म यसलाई अर्को शताब्दी शिक्षण को लागी उर्जा रिचार्ज
गर्न को लागी एक sabbatical को रूप मा कल्पना गर्छु। त्यसोभए उसले 3
महिनासम्म के गर्यो? के उनले ब्रह्माण्ड वरिपरि जिप जाँच गर्दै
मनोवैज्ञानिक शक्तिहरू प्रयोग गरे? (नोट: यो मेरो सूचिमा उच्च हुनेछ।) यहाँ
उनले के भने: “यदि अन्य शिक्षकहरूका अनुयायीहरूले मलाई मेरो वर्षाको पछाडि

ਨਾ ਤਾਂ ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਥੱਕ ਗਈਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਚਿੱਤ ਚਿਪਕਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ, ਦਾਗਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਮੁਕਤ

ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਜਗਾਉਣ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਬੁੱਧ ਦਾ ਅਭਿਆਸ ਸਾਹ ਲੈਣ ਦੀ ਮਾਨਸਿਕਤਾ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਉਸ ਦੀ
ਇਕਾਗਰਤਾ (ਭਾਵ ਝਾਨਾ ਅਭਿਆਸ ਕਰਨਾ) ਨੂੰ ਸੌਂਪਣਾ ਸੀ. ਜਾਗਰੂਕਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਉਸਦੇ ਜਾਗਣ ਤੋਂ
ਬਾਅਦ ਕੀ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ?

ਜਾਗਰੁਕਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਜਗਾਉਣ ਦੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਮੇਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਜਦੋਂ
ਸੰਗਠਨ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਸਥਾਪਤ ਸੀ, ਉਸਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਿਕਸ਼ੂਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੂਚਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ
ਵਾਸਾ (ਬਾਰਸ਼ਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਾਪਸੀ) ਨੂੰ ਇਕੱਲੇ ਇਕੱਲੇ ਮਨਨ ਵਿਚ ਬਿਤਾਏਗਾ. ਉਹ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ
ਨਹੀਂ ਵੇਖਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਸੀ ਸਿਵਾਏ ਲੋਕ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਭੀਖ ਭੋਜਨ ਲਿਆਉਂਦੇ ਸਨ. ਮੈਂ ਕਲਪਨਾ
ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਅਗਲੀਆਂ ਮੌਸਮਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਲਈ ਉਸਦੀ energyਰਜਾ ਨੂੰ ਰਿਚਾਰਜ ਕਰਨਾ ਇਕ

“مهاتما پڇيو ويو،” توهان وچٿري کان حاصل ڪئي آهي؟ “
هن جواب ڏنو “ڪونهي”! تڏهن به توهان کي ٻڌايان ٿو ته آئون وڃائي چڪو آهيان: ڪاوڙجي،
پريشاني، بيماري، ناامني، ڊاڪٽرن جو خوف ۽ موت. “

اهو مهاتما ٻڌيو ڪيئن پيو؟


هتي هڪ دلچسپ سوال آهي: مهاتما پنهنجي پاڻ کي ڪيئن غور ڪيو؟ ڇا هو شعور
سان بيجاري ڪرڻ کان اڳ ۽ بعد ۾ سوچيو؟ ڇا هو شعور سان گڏ پنهنجي بيروزگاري
کان پوء حوصله افزائي ڪري؟ اهو سڀ کان وڌيڪ اسرار ٿي نه آهي. اسان تمام
گهڻو ڄاڻو ٿا، ۽ سڀ کان وڌيڪ SN SN جي شروعات جي ويجهو آهي.

جڏهن ته
ترقي يافته جي پيداوار جي ڪري، جڏهن ته ترقي يافته پيدا ڪئي وئي آهي، اهو
سڀ کان وڏو ميوو ۽ فائدو آهي. مان پڻ، فقير، منهنجي بيچاري کان اڳ ۾، جڏهن
ته اڃا تائين هڪ بادوسٽي هئي، اڃا تائين خبرداري سان مڪمل طور تي نه ٿي
سگهندو آهي، عام طور تي هن رهائش ۾ رهندي آهي. جڏهن آئون عام طور تي هن
رهائش ۾ رهندي هئي، نه منهنجو جسم ۽ نه منهنجي اکين مان ٿڪجي ويو آهي ۽
منهنجو ذهن، ڪنگ نه ڪندي، انهن مانن کان آزاد ٿي ويو. تنهن ڪري، فقير،
جيڪڏهن فقير صاحب جي خواهشون هوندي ته: “نه ئي منهنجو جسم ۽ نه منهنجي اکين
مان ٿڪجي ويو آهي ۽ شايد منهنجو ذهن ذهني طور تي، ٽائڪن کان آزاد ٿي وڃي.”

ريٽرن) مڪمل طور تي اڪيلو مراقبت ۾ گذاريندو. هن ڪنهن کي ڏسڻ نه چاهيو،
سواء ٻين ماڻهن کي کيس کاڌو ڳولڻ کانسواء. مان سمجهان ٿو ته اهو هڪ
sabbatical طور تي ايندڙ موسمن کي ايندڙ موسمن جي لاء پنهنجي توانائي تي
آڻڻ لاء. پوء هن انهن ٽن مهينن لاء ڇا ڪيو؟ ڇا هو نفسياتي طاقت استعمال ڪري
ڪائنات جي چوڌاري سٽا ڳولڻ جي چوڌاري؟ (نوٽ: هي منهنجي فهرست تي اعلي ٿي
ويندي.) هتي اهو ڇا چيو ته: “ٻين استادن جا پوئلڳ پڇيو ته آئون منهنجي
برسات ڪيئن وڃائي ڪئين، صرف انهن کي ٻڌايو ته هو گهڻو ڪري هن جي بارش سانس
جي ذلت جي جذبي ۾ پنهنجي بارش واپس. “(ايس اي 54.2.1)

شعور جي
بيماري ذريعي ذهني شعور جي مشق سان گڏوگڏ ايجاد ٿيڻ کان پوء، شعور جي
بيماري ذريعي، بيداريء سان شعور جي بيماري ڪرڻ کان اڳ. جيئن ته چوندا آهن،
ته اهو مهاتما ٻڌ جي لاء ڪافي آهي.

How Did the Buddha Meditate?


Here’s an interesting question: how did the Buddha himself meditate?
Did he meditate the same before and after awakenment with awareness ?
Did he even bother to meditate after his awakenment with awareness? It
turns out to be not much a mystery at all. We pretty much know, and most
of the story is given near the beginning of the SN 54.


Concentration by mindfulness of breathing, when developed and
cultivated, is of great fruit and benefit…I too, monks, before my
awakenment with awareness, while I was still a bodhisatta, not yet fully
awakened with awareness, generally dwelt in this dwelling. While I
generally dwelt in this dwelling, neither my body nor my eyes became
fatigued and my mind, by not clinging, was liberated from the taints.
Therefore, monks, if a monk wishes: “May neither my body nor my eyes
become fatigued and may my mind, by not clinging, be liberated from the
taints,” this same concentration by mindfulness of breathing should be
closely attended to.

So the Buddha’s practice before his awakenment with awareness was to
hone his concentration (that is to say jhana practice) through
mindfulness of breathing. What about after his awakenment with
awareness?

At some point long after his awakenment with awareness
when the sangha was firmly in place, he informed his monks that he
would be spending his Vassa (rains retreat) completely alone in solitary
meditation. He didn’t want to see anyone except people bringing him
alms food. I imagine it as sort of a sabbatical to recharge his energy
for the next seasons teaching. So what did he do for those 3 months? Did
he use psychic powers to zip around the universe checking out planets?
(Note: this would be high on my list.) Here’s what he said: “If
followers of other teachers ask how I spent my rains retreat, just tell
them he mostly spent his rains retreat in the concentration that comes
from mindfulness of breathing.” (SN 54.2.1)

after awakenment with awareness concentration practice through
mindfulness of breathing. As they say, if it’s good enough for the
Buddha…

All 84,000 Khandas As Found in the Pali Suttas

Traditionally the are 84,000 Dharma Doors - 84,000 ways to get
Awakeness. Maybe so; certainly the Buddha taught a large number of
practices that lead to Awakeness. This web page attempts to catalogue
those found in the Pali Suttas (DN, MN, SN, AN, Ud & Sn 1). There
are 3 sections:

The discourses of Buddha are divided into 84,000, as to separate
addresses. The division includes all that was spoken by Buddha.”I
received from Buddha,” said Ananda, “82,000 Khandas, and  from the
priests 2000; these are 84,000 Khandas maintained by me.” They are
divided into 275,250, as to the stanzas of the original text, and into
361,550, as to the stanzas of the commentary. All the discourses
including both those of
Buddha and those of the commentator, are divided  into 2,547 banawaras,
containing 737,000 stanzas, and 29,368,000 separate letters.

The Great Discourse on the Total Unbinding

This
wide-ranging sutta, the longest one in the Pali canon, describes the
events leading up to, during, and immediately following the death and
final release (parinibbana) of the Buddha. This colorful narrative
