times throughout the Mahayana Sutras such as the Heart Sutra and
Surangama Sutra, often reaffirming that Maitreya will be a Buddha who

Maitreyaâs image appearing in space to challenge Mara, and then
describes Maitreya sitting on a jeweled lotus throne surrounded by
bodhisattvas and gods, such as Manjushri, Samantabhadra and
AvalokiteÅvara. Maitreya is also presented in the Lotus Sutra as the
teacher who will succeed Gautama Buddha and Maitreyaâs name is often
mentioned along with AmitÄbha Buddha.

many private homes and public places such as parks and Buddhist centers.
Maitreya Friendly Benevolent Compassionate Awakened OneBodhisattva is often depicted seated on a lotus throne
holding a Dharma wheel or teaching bell in his left hand while making
the Abhaya mudra (fearlessness gesture) with his right hand. This mudra
represents Maitreyaâs role as a teacher of the Dharma, which will lead
all beings to liberation from suffering.
Maitreya Friendly Benevolent Compassionate Awakened One is also known as the âFriendly Benevolent Compassionate Awakened One Buddha of the Futureâ because he is
said to be the next Buddha who will appear on Earth. Maitreya is often
linked with the Amitabha Buddha, as they are both seen as saviors who
will help sentient beings in their journey towards enlightenment.
It is Maitreya Friendly Benevolent Compassionate Awakened Oneâs role as âsaviorâ and future Buddha that led to so
many fraudulent tricksters claiming throughout history to be Maitreya
Friendly Benevolent Compassionate Awakened One come to earth. (See the section on Maitreya claimants.)
Maitreya Friendly Benevolent Compassionate Awakened One Bodhisattva embodies the Bodhisattva ideal of Mahayana
Buddhism: one who delays their own Buddhahood out of compassion for all
sentient beings. Maitreya Friendly Benevolent Compassionate Awakened Oneâs name means âloving friendâ or âfriend of
allâ, and his compassionate nature is extended to all beings, regardless
of whether they are human, animal or anything else. Maitreya Friendly Benevolent Compassionate Awakened One is
therefore known as the âfriend of all creaturesâ.
Maitreya
âs compassion is further extended to include even those who have caused harm. In the Maitri Upanishad, Maitreya says:
ETERNAL GLORIFIED FRIENDLY BENEVOLENT COMPASSIONATE AWAKENED ONES
âBy taking refuge in me, even those who have committed the most
heinous crimes will be freed from their karma and will attain
liberation.â
This shows that MaitreyaFriendly
âs compassion is not selective â it is
ETERNAL GLORIFIED FRIENDLY BENEVOLENT COMPASSIONATE AWAKENED ONES
available to all, no matter how bad their past actions may have been.
MaitreyaFriendly
âs compassion is therefore seen as boundless and all-inclusive.

compassion, he provides an excellent role model for all of us who wish
to develop these qualities within ourselves. By studying Maitreyaâs life

own lives.
Maitreya
âs name means âloving friendâ, which highlights his

compassionate nature. He is known as the âfriend of all creaturesâ

compassion.

Any feature on this loving Bodhisattva â who will be the next Buddha

Heaven â must, unfortunately, cover the unsavory aspects of people
âposingâ as Maitreya coming to earth. There is, of course, nothing
unsavory about Maitreya â the most loving and noble of all the
Bodhisattvas. Unfortunately, though, many dictators, military leaders,
religious leaders, and other opportunists have claimed to be Maitreya
come to earth to save us all. They are nothing more than unfortunate
blips in history â universally discredited as false by Buddhist leaders
of the past. These are just a few of the many:

These succulent little fruits donât require much maintenance as long
as they get enough sun. It is therefore quite easy to have them all year
round, especially if you vary the varieties by alternating early and
late ones. This way, you will have what you need every year!
Carrot plantings can easily accommodate a push in a pot. However,
before you can harvest them, you need to meet a few important criteria:
soft, sandy soil, regular watering and moderate temperatures.
The stars of our salads can be planted in pots and allow you to
harvest about six cucumbers per plant in two months after planting. Keep
in mind that cucumbers love to bask in the sun in a large pot that is
watered regularly! If your balcony has a good exposure, cucumbers are
perfectly compatible with this space.
Another popular food when the mercury is rising, tomatoes offer a
good yield (especially the âRed Pearâ and âYellow Pearâ)! You just need
to choose a pot adapted to the variety you want and five hours of direct
sunlight per day. Know that the dwarf and cherry varieties are perfect
to cultivate for those who begin. With our tips for successful tomato
plants, growing them will only get easier!
They grow easily and require little attention, but since they climb a
lot, itâs best to provide a trellis along a wall. Choose a pot at least
30 cm deep and grow them in nitrogen-rich soil⊠why not with cabbages
or celery that produce nitrogen? Also note that young shoots and adult
plants like sun.
If you meet certain conditions, youâll have all the peppers and
chilies you need, because theyâre not afraid of small spaces! A warm
environment and sunshine are important, of course, but youâll also need a
pot at least 30 cm deep and donât forget to drain the soil with some
green manure when planting.
Surprisingly, growing eggplants in pots is not complicated if you
give them a temperate environment to grow all year round. Hot
temperatures donât scare them, quite the opposite so put large pots in
the sun and donât forget their regular watering as well as natural
fertilizer or compost!
Zucchini are one of the easiest vegetables to grow in a pot, thanks
to their easy maintenance as long as they get enough sun. If you want to
grow something good in abundance, you wonât regret it! For the variety,
prefer the non-hardy ones that will give you small fruits. The âNice
Roundâ is one of our favorites when you want to start growing zucchini.
There you have it dear gardening friends! With all these ideas,
thereâs no reason to limit yourself to herb gardeners (parsley, basilâŠ).
But of course, if you decide to create a vegetable and fruit garden on
your small balcony, you may also need to think about herbs to accompany
them in your recipes!
