Seeing people locked 🔒 in conflict,
I became completely distraught 😭.
But then I discerned here a thorn
Hard to see
Lodged deep in the mind.

Speak only words
that neither torment
yourself nor does harm to others.
That speech is
truly well spoken.
By what earthly path can
you lead the Buddha astray.
He who can wander
The path of the infinite?

Not even finding
“self-ness,”
They do not grieve at
“I have nothing”

Experience are preceded
by mind, led by mind,
and produced by mind.
If you speak or act with
a pure mind, happiness
follows like a shadow
that never departs
Explanation: All that man experiences
springs out of his thoughts. If his thoughts are good, the words and
the deeds will also be good. The result of good thoughts , words and
deeds will be happiness. This happiness will never leave the person
whose thoughts are good. Happiness will always follow him like his
shadow that never leaves him.

Perceiving the body to be
fragile like a clay pot,
and fortifying the mind as
though it were a city,
with the sword of wisdom
make war on Mara.
Free from attachment,
keep watch over what
has been won.


Verse 40. Weapons To Defeat Death



Having known this urn-like body,
made firm this mind as fortress town,
with wisdom-weapon one fights Mara
while guarding booty, unattached.


Explanation: It is realistic to think of the body as vulnerable,
fragile, frail and easily disintegrated. In fact, one must consider
it as a clay vessel. The mind should be thought of as a city. One
has to be perpetually mindful to protect the city. Forces of evil
have to be fought with the weapons of wisdom. After the battle, once
you have achieve victory, live without being attached to the mortal
self.
