The next step is to buy your
Information/Registration pack (& handbook) and Safer Swim Float™.
The pack is available in ENGLISH only. In addition to a wealth of
information, the registration pack contains all the forms you will need
to register your swim. (See note at bottom re: 2016 swims and onwards)

Safer
Swim Floats™ whilst not mandatory are highly recommended during
training to make you more visible and safe. You can either buy one of
these Swim Safety Devices™ which includes the pack at £66 and £70 (if
outside UK) (incl. P&P)

cost (incl. post and packing) of the current Information Pack on its
own is £35.00 (£39:00 if outside the U.K.) and can be paid by Sterling
Cheque (drawn on a U.K. Bank) (not postal order) made payable to

you can transact by e-mail … not forgetting to provide the valid from
date and expiry date, plus the security number on the back – last 3
digits, (and issue number if appropriate to your card). (And your
address details.) Please do not send EUROS. You can pay your
Swim/Registration Fees and purchase Regalia items by the same methods.
Receipts are not sent out unless specifically requested.

Packs
are NOT available on the website and can only be obtained through the
Secretary with payment as above.ie by cheque or credit card. Once
payment has been received your address details will be sent to the lady
who will then post the pack to you.

Further Points to help you

Since
we don’t hold the pilot’s availability, please contact them yourself.
They will advise on slots and dates. The only ones to use are listed on
www.channelswimmingassociation.com

Pilots will advise also on boat capacity. Usually relay teams are max 6/7 swimmers

You
must have one boat each for a solo and can only use boats listed. Each
swimmer is required to register and pay the appropriate fee. No one can
use their own boat or swim solo side by side with one boat. Please see
our list of pilots. Each relay swimmer swims for an hour each in
rotation until completion of swim.

Currently the cost is approx
£2700 for the boat.  The pilot will ask for around £100 non-refundable
deposit t secure your place. The remainder is payable the day you swim

CSA
admin solo approx £360 each swimmer and relay £425 for team. It is the
busiest shipping lane in the world and safety is very important. Any
unauthorised crossings without one of the CSA boats will be stopped by
the coastguards. It is the pilots who know their availability so contact
them direct and if you need a pack please get in touch with us.

Swim season runs from end of June till start of October each year

The six hour swim can be done no more than 12 months before your actual Channel swim

Should
you need any coaching and training advice there is plenty on our
website. There are also Channel Swim Training Camps. Please ask about
these.

Often swimmers choose to have a coach. If this is
something that interests you then please do get in touch with us at the
CSA and we can point you in the right direction. We are here to help –

Please note if you are planning your swim for after 2016 it is very
much advisable to get a  pack now to assist you on your way. Please note
however, you will need the 2016 and onwards pack depending on the year
you swim.FYI the 2016 pack comes out September 2015. Please be aware
when returning your completed application forms for your swim, that if
you require a signature, special post etc, I  am usually out when the
postman comes and thus, have to drive to collect your forms. This can
mean a delay. ‘Recorded delivery’ only guarantees a signature this other
end, not a quicker delivery. Regular mail just gets put through the
door and is the best and quickest way. Remember to photocopy your
application forms before sending through the post. We only accept forms

About Organizing University:
Yogi
Vemana University, the erstwhile SVUPG Centre upgraded to premier State
University by an Act of the Government of Andhra Pradesh in March 2007
is committed to academic excellence and social enrichment for the well
being of the people of Andhra Pradesh in general and of Rayalaseema
region in particular. It is named after a great thinker, philosopher,
and social reformer Yogi Vemana, the most celebrated Telugu poet and
sage of all time. The University located 15Kms away from Kadapa City on
the Kadapa-Pulivendula road, with 27 Departments offering Post Graduate
Programme, Doctoral Research making special provisions:

Organizing Department
 The
present Department of Political Science & Public Administration is
one of the oldest departments established at the erstwhile SVUPG Centre
Kadapa, in November 1977. It is committed to achieve excellence in three
Teaching & Learning, Research, and Extension. Since then the
department is offering Masters Degree in Political Science & Public
Administration with an intake of 30 Students. Since 1981, the Research
facilities leading to M.Phil and Ph.D have been made available to the

Administration. The department is concentrating on developing

About the Conference
The
debate on democracy fraternity, equality, justice, untouchability and
discriminations certainly not a new one, but the way it is incorporated
in that on Social exclusion leads to several shifts within the discourse
on Social justice, empowerment and participation. The term Social
exclusion is multidimensional although its western use in a selective
may about markets primarily equality separates it from the Indian
emphasis on social justice as converted to ending the discrimination of
dalit groups. The concept of Social exclusion is inherently problematic
as its faces three major challenges in India. The first relates to
historical discrimination, second about political economy of exclude,
the third question the way in which equality is restricted.

The
present international conference is on Bodhidharma, a Buddhist Monk
from Tamil Nadu who went to China during 6th c. AD and established the
Chan school of Buddhism and exerted deep impact on the life style of the
people of Asia.

It is remarkable that the medieval traders and
Buddhist monks of India served as our true cultural ambassadors since
they carried with them the rich cultural traditions of this country to
various parts of Asia along with their mercantile commodities and the
message of love and compassion of the Buddha. This great message of the
Buddha radiated its rays over the benighted world and brought the people
of Asia closer than ever and developed spiritual kinship and symbiotic
relationship among them.

One such spiritual and cultural
ambassador was Bodhi-Dharma, a prince of Kanchipuram, the capital city
of the Pallava dynasty, who went to China in the fifth century AD and
founded the Chan/Zen school of Buddhism. The teachings of this great
saint from the Tamil soil has transformed the life and culture of the
people in China, Japan, Korea, Vietnam and many other countries and he
is venerated as the first Zu (patriarch) of Zen Buddhism. The Chinese
manuscripts show the birthplace of Bodhi-Dharma as “Kang-zhi”, which
researchers believe to be Kanchipuram of Tamil Nadu, a great spot of
learning and cultural diffusion during the times of Bodhi-Dharma.

Mahayana
or Zen Buddhism has given birth to a vast literary corpus. The Japanese
worship Bodhi-Dharma as Dharmazan. If Gautama Buddha is the Light of
Asia, Bodhi-Dharma is a great Asian beacon of philosophy. It is a matter
of great pride for all of us that this great Buddhist teacher hailed
from Kanchipuram, one of the spiritual city of ancient India.
Bodhi-Dharma taught our Kalari art, the unique martial art form of South
India to the Chinese, and this later evolved into various forms of
martial arts in Asia.

The Zen Buddhism brought about
revolutionary changes and enlightenment in the culture and lives of not
only practitioners but also ordinary people in East Asia, including
China, Japan, Korea, Vietnam and other countries. In our contemporary
world, the influence of Zen Buddhism is not waning, but rather it is
vigorously expanding worldwide, and its importance is increasing even
more.
To help advance the study of Indian philosophy and Mahayana
Buddhism, we are now in the process of establishing a Buddhist Study
Centre named after Bodhi-dharma in Kanchipuram, his birth place. It
would serve as a centre of study and meditation for Buddhists and
scholars from all over the world.

Eventhough Bodhidharma and his
Zen Buddhism are popular worldewide, they are not well known in the
birth place of Bodhidharma. A through study of Bodhidharma and his
teaching in relation to his native country is highly indispensible to
have an objective understanding about this great teacher and
philosopher. We are sure that this will help to get a holistic
understanding of Bodhidharma whose roots are in the spiritual soil of
India. Therefore, we have decided to organize a two day International
Conference on Bodhidharma in Chennai on 13th and 14th of August 2015.

Scholars
from various countries will participate and present papers on various
aspects of Bodhidharma and his teachings. We are planning to invite
scholars all over the world to present research papers on various
aspects of Bodhidharma and his teachings. The tentative areas of
