gia có câu: “Do giới nhi định, định năng sinh tuệ.”

How Babasaheb rejected and criticised the Vedas
In 1936, Ambedkar wrote, “The Hindu religion, as contained in the Vedas and the Smritis, is nothing but a mass of sacrificial.”
Synopsis
First
eight of the 22 vows that Ambedkar administered to his followers on the
day he embraced Buddhism involved an open repudiation of the Vedic
religion.
By Vaibhav Purandare, TNNLast Updated: Jan 24, 2017, 11:34 AM IST3
MUMBAI:
Contrary to RSS official Krishna Gopal’s claim that Dr Babasaheb
Ambedkar had immense faith in the Vedic religion, the framer of India’s
Constitution not only never believed in the Vedas or Vedic faith but
severely criticised it several times, once going to the extent of
writing, in his canonical work ‘Annihiliation of Caste’, that “you have
got to apply the dynamite to the Vedas and the shastras, which deny any
part to reason; to the Vedas and shastras, which deny any part to
morality .“
The
first eight of the 22 vows that Ambedkar administered to his followers
on the day he embraced Buddhism in Nagpur on October 14, 1956, were also
an open repudiation of the Vedic religion, said scholar Hari Narke, who
edited volumes 17 to 22 of Ambedkar’s writings and speeches, published
by the Maharashtra government.
In
1936, Ambedkar wrote, “The Hindu religion, as contained in the Vedas
and the Smritis, is nothing but a mass of sacrificial, social, political
and sanitary rules and regulations, all mixed up. What is called
religion by the Hindus is nothing but a multitude of commands and
prohibitions.“
Offering
a radical solution to the problem of too many scriptures in Hinduism,
he said the “Vedas, Shastras and Puranas, which are treated as sacred
and authoritative, must by law cease to be so and the preaching of any
doctrine, religious or social contained in these books should be
penalised.“ Describing the great work of the Buddha, Ambedkar stated
that the founder of Buddhism had “repudiated the authority of the
Vedas“.When Buddha condemned “karma kanda“ (rituals) and Yagnas,
Ambedkar stated, the “counter-revolutionaries“ opposed him saying these
things “were ordained by the Vedas, the Vedas were infallible.“
But,
he wrote, “People who had accepted the gospel of social equality and
who were remaking society on the basis of each one according to his
merits–how could they accept the Chaturvarnya theory of gradation and
separation of man based on birth simply because the Vedas say so?“ In at
least four of his works in addition to the controversial `Riddles in
Hinduism -Caste in India’ (1916), ‘Annihilation of Caste’ (1936), `Who
were the Shudras’ (1946) and `The Untouchables’ (1948) -Ambedkar offered
a strong indictment of the earliest known Hindu texts.

Rules of Modern Manusmriti That Apply Only to SC/STs on Social Media.
Recently,
the Facebook account of Raya Sarkar, who started compiling the list of
sexual harassers (mostly from so-called upper castes) in academics, was
blocked and some people who had shared her post were also banned from
posting on Facebook. It was not the solo case and there is a rising
trend that dissent voices are being silenced by various social media
platforms, maybe under the pressure from the governments.
You
might have read the rules of Manusmriti those were applied (still
applies) to so-called lower castes and women in general before the
Constitution of India came into practice. No matter, one can still see
rules of Manusmriti being implemented by successive Indian governments
but with the rise of social media websites starting with Orkut to
Facebook to Twitter gave some hopes to so-called lower castes in India
that their voice will be heard. But their dreams of using social media
as a tool to raise the issues of caste discrimination and injustice were
short lived.
The
reason for their short-lived dreams are many but mainly linked with the
Brahminical mindset of managers sitting at these social media websites
in Indian offices. No matter how hard so-called lower castes in India
are trying to come out and speak for themselves, they are silenced
either by government forces or by Brahminical lords sitting at these
social media websites.
A
few months ago, National Dastak, one of the major website raising the
voice of downtrodden was banned from posting on Facebook for the unknown
reason. Facebook account of Bahujan writer Dilip Mandal was disabled
without any reason. There is not even a single day when some of my
friends’ posts are not deleted or they are not banned from posting stuff
on these social media sites, leaves many of us to wonder whether
Facebook and other social media are run according to the rules of RSS?
On
the other hand hateful and propaganda of Brahminical organizations is
not barred and is allowed to generate hatred among communities. Even the
so-called mainstream media (we called it Manu-stream media) doesn’t
hesitate from spreading hatred among different communities in India. One
can check out the hashtags TimesNow (better should be named TimesCow)
and Republic promote every day on social media to understand the hateful
propaganda. Below I list a few of the laws of modern Manusmriti.
Rules of Modern Manusmriti That Apply Only to SC/STs on Social Media.
Any post against caste discrimination, Hindu Caste system and for equality would be deleted.
Dalits raising voice for equality and against discrimination would be banned and their posts will be deleted.
Brahmins are free to post anything and defame Dalit-Bahujan heroes/ideals, no one will question them.
Dalits
no matter how many times complaint to Facebook or other social media
about the abuse or demeaning content against them, those complaints
won’t be listened.
Brahmins’ troll army would be rewarded for abusing Dalit-Bahujans or anyone speaking against the Brahminical hegemony.
Prime Minister of the country would follow all those who abuse others for raising their voice against the policies of the state.
Different
caste groups on social media seem like living in caste ghettos should
not interact with each other and fire from their own bunkers.
I
personally have been blocked and my posts been removed from Orkut,
Facebook, Reddit, Google+ etc. I don’t know whether I should feel proud
of all these achievements (!) or be angry. Caste discrimination and
practices of discrimination run in the veins of so-called upper castes
and there is no space where caste doesn’t play its part.
Let
me know in the comments section if you have faced similar treatment and
if there are other points that you would like to add to the list and I
will update the list.

Ambedkar burned Manusmriti as a symbol of rejection of the religious basis of untouchability
Manusmriti Dahan Divas 25 December 1927
on
December 25, 1927, Babasaheb Ambedkar burned Manusmriti as a symbol of
rejection of the religious basis of untouchability. The event was
arranged during the Mahad Satyagraha. Mahad Satyagraha was a fight to
assert the “Untouchables” right to access public water, and to embrace
humanity and dignity. For Babasaheb — a staunch advocate of women’s
rights and emancipation — it was a political action to burn Manusmriti
publicly as he believed that the book entailed the rules preaching
inhumane treatment not only towards women but also “Untouchables”, in
private as well as public sphere.
The
Manusmriti Dahan Din is celebrated today too, after close to 90 years
of its burning. But my question is, who has been celebrating this day
all along? Why should we still celebrate it?
Babasaheb
had addressed the masses before the event saying, “Let’s destroy the
authority of ancient Hindu scriptures that are borne in inequality.
Religion and slavery are not compatible.” After his speech, his
associate Bapusaheb Sahastrabuddhe said, “Even though I am born as a
Brahmin, I condemn the doctrines of Manusmriti. It is a symbol not of
religion but of inequality, cruelty and injustice. I move a resolution
that the Manusmriti which has been the cause of sufferings for
generations, should be publicly burned.” (From the film, ‘Dr Babasaheb
Ambedkar: The Untold Truth’). At 9 pm that night, the book was burned at
the hands of Bapusaheb Sahastrabuddhe and six Dalit sadhus.
The three banners on the poles erected on the corners of a pit (dug for burning the Manusmriti), read:
1.”Manusmriti chi Dahan Bhumi” (Crematorium for Manusmriti),
2. Destroy Untouchability, and
3. Bury the Brahmanism.
Following are some of the things that Manusmriti prescribes:
Since
a woman is not capable of living independently, she is to be kept under
the custody of her father as a child, under her husband as a woman
(wife) and under her son as a widow.
It
is the duty of all husbands to exert total control over their wives.
Even physically weak husbands must strive to control their wives.
While
performing namkarm and jatkarm, Vedic mantras are not to be recited by
women, because women lack strength and knowledge of vedic texts. Women
are impure and represent falsehood.
Consuming
liquor, association with wicked persons, separation from her husband,
rambling around, sleeping for unreasonable hours and dwelling are six
demerits of women.
In
case a woman, proud of the greatness of her excellence or her relatives,
violates her duty towards her husband, the King shall arrange to have
her thrown before dogs at a public place.
Brahman men can marry Brahman, Kshatriya, Vaishya and even Shudra women but Shudra men can marry only Shudra women.
In
case a woman enjoys sex with a man from a higher caste, the act is not
punishable. But on the contrary, if a woman enjoys sex with a lower
caste man, she is to be punished and kept in isolation.
In
case a man from a lower caste enjoys sex with a woman from a higher
caste, the person in question is to be awarded the death sentence. And
if a person satisfies his carnal desire with women of his own caste, he
should be asked to pay compensation to the woman’s faith.
Men
may be lacking in virtue, be sexual perverts, immoral and devoid of any
good qualities and yet women must constantly worship and serve their
husbands.
No wonder Manusmriti Dahan Din is also celebrated as Stree Mukti Din.
The
level of cruel injustice directed towards the Untouchables in the laws
of Manusmriti can be seen in the Peshwa rule in Maharashtra which had
implemented most of the laws from Manusmriti. The untouchables had to
carry a broom stick attached to their backs so that when they enter the
city, their footprints would not pollute the path. They were forced to
put a pot around their neck to carry their spit in the pot. They were
not allowed to hold any arms, and education was completely barred.
Untouchables were killed if they did not follow these restrictions.
Manusmriti restricts women from enjoying many rights such as education, independence
However,
Manusmriti was unjust towards “Untouchables” as well as women across
castes. The evil practices like Sati and child marriage are the best
examples of this. Babasaheb acknowledged that Manusmriti restricts women
from enjoying many rights such as education, independence, inheritance
of wealth, etc. The book defines a woman merely as a sex object who is
always dependent on and is protected by her male counterpart from
childhood to old age. Manusmriti also gave rights to the upper caste men
to not only own but also sexually exploit the Shudra women.
However,
Ambedkar’s action was criticised by many people. Some even asked, “What
is achieved by burning the Manusmriti?” Babasaheb answered, “What did
Gandhi achieve by burning foreign clothes? This was the form of
registering the protest, so was ours against Manusmriti.” For those who
said “It is an outdated booklet“, his answer was, “Why then to give
importance to it? How does it matter to you if somebody burns it?” He
further declared that if unfortunately, this burning of Manusmriti does
not result in destruction of ‘Brahmanya’, we will have to either burn
the ‘Brahmanya-grast’ people (that is, people affected by Brahminism) or
renounce Hinduism.”
It
is significant today to look at the specific occasion Babasaheb chose
to burn the Manusmriti. From the beginning, like Jotiba Phule, Babasaheb
had hoped that since in the eyes of Manu, women and untouchables were
equally ridiculed, emancipation of women would lead to emancipation of
“lower” castes too.
Unfortunately,
things haven’t changed! While in the past we saw opposition to the
Hindu Code Bill — proposed by Babasaheb to give women their rights — by
dominant and “upper” caste women themselves, today we see their silence
on the issues of “lower” caste women. We witnessed their apathy towards
Khairlanji massacre. They were also not as vocal to fight for justice to
Delta as they have been by coming on roads for ‘Nirbhaya’ or the
Kopardi case.
Today,
what is more surprising is that the rituals like Vat Puja or Karva
Chauth have become more festive than before and are celebrated by young
women too. Why is it so? Why do we see the ‘scientific’ justifications
for celebrating Vat Puja, observing fasts or the ‘logic’ behind putting
kumkum on forehead? I feel, more than earlier, Manu today has
strengthened his roots in more rigid ways with the help of ‘modern
science’ and ‘market’.
We
have allowed Manu to enter our popular culture, TV shows and serials.
We see around us the modern Manus in the form of Jyotishis sitting in
their ‘shops’ selling unasked-for advice, who are invited on TV shows,
and let to interfere in our lives. We have allowed the Manu to enter in
our routine lives so much so that we cannot even recognise him now.
I
think, today, there is a need to celebrate Manusmriti Dahan Din more
than ever to invoke the subordination and humiliation of women as well
as “lower” caste people. Manu is not just in Manusmriti, he is also in
our minds. When are we going to burn the book in there?

Growing Jasmine Plant: Information For Growing And Care Of A Jasmine Vine Jasmine By: Bonnie L. It is an important scent noted in perfumes, and also has herbal properties. The plants may be vines or bushes and some are evergreen. Most jasmine plants are found in tropical to sub-tropical climates, although a few may thrive in temperate zones. Protection from cold temperatures is one of the most important aspects of jasmine plant care. Growing jasmine vines can create a perfumed shield over arbors, trellises and fences. The bush types are excellent landscape specimens with starry pink, white, ivory or even yellow scented blooms. Jasmine Plants Jasmine plant care may require a bit of effort, but the results are well worth the work. Not all jasmine plants are fragrant, but the most common and hardy do produce a sweet, carrying fragrance. Common jasmine is a vine and has larger glossy green leaves than Royal jasmine. Both can survive in temperate climates if they are planted in a sheltered area. Arabian jasmine is a small bush with evergreen leaves. There are many other varieties of jasmine plant, of which are best suited for sub-tropical climates. Learning how to grow jasmine will add a striking visual and olfactory touch to the garden. How to Grow Jasmine Choose a warm, sheltered location when growing jasmine. The vining varieties require a support structure as some can get 15 feet tall. All jasmine plants prefer sun to light shade sites with well-draining and moderately fertile soil. Install the plant in the ground at the same level it was growing in the nursery pot. Most jasmine plants are grafted onto the common jasmine rootstock because of its superior hardiness. Care of a Jasmine Vine Jasmine plant care is not difficult but does require vigilance. The vines need to be trained early when they are young. You may use plant ties or just weave them through trellis sections. Fertilize the plant in spring just before new growth appears. Pinch off the tips of the vines in the second year to promote branching which will fill the trellis with bushy growth. The vining jasmine plant is prone to spider mites, which can be combated with horticultural oil or neem oil. Indoor Jasmine Care Dwarf varieties of jasmine make excellent houseplants. They require even moisture and a sunny location in the home. Vines can also be brought into the home and the height is easy to manage with pruning or pinching in the dormant season. Potted plants do not have access to extra nutrients, so they need fertilizing twice annually. Watch carefully for pests and water from the bottom to prevent spotting on the glossy leaves. Your jasmine plant will flower in late spring into summer. Repot it before bloom time in early spring as needed. How to Grow Jasmine Cuttings Harvest tip cuttings in spring and plant them for free plants. Dip the cutting into a rooting hormone and push the end into a soilless medium, such as peat. Keep the cutting lightly moist. Jasmine plant cuttings are best started during June to October. Once rooted, follow general jasmine plant care instructions.

The 8 Best Vegetables to Grow Indoors
A little sunlight and the right soil is all you’ll need.
Put your green thumb to work—and save yourself a trip to the farmer’s market—by growing your own veggies, fruits, herbs, and other foods indoors year-round.
To get started, you’ll need a pot with drainage holes and specially designed indoor potting soil. While some options can grow in small planters, larger veggies will require big and deep containers so their roots have space to flourish. And to ensure your soil drains properly (no soggy pots allowed!), it may be helpful to DIY your very own mixture by adding some organic perlite into high-quality potting soil.
Once you’ve got your supplies, find yourself a sunny window (veggies will need at least 4-6 hours of sunshine while fruits will need at least 8-10 hours daily), and get to potting.
When it comes to watering, each plant will be a bit different, but it’s always best to remember the old adage: less is more. And here’s a sage idea: Set up a cool mist humidifier near your indoor garden to help simulate their typical outdoor conditions and to prevent them from drying out.
To give your plants an extra boost—especially when those dreary winter days roll around—invest in powerful grow lights, which start at just $33. You can also achieve faster growth (and do less work!) when it comes to herbs with an AeroGarden kit, which you can pick up for just $60.
Without grow lights, you can still expect to see sprouting rather quickly, but it will likely be several weeks to months before you can cut and enjoy your goodies. Follow these tips, choose from one of our favorite options below, and you’ll be harvesting your own indoor crops in no time.
1 Scallions

Grow these sweet onions then add them to dishes like dill scallion dip, scallion baked beans, or scallion breaded chicken cutlets. Scallions are great for gardening beginners because they’re easy to care for and don’t need as much sunlight as some other veggies.
2 Radishes

“Radishes are known to do quite well indoors,” Miracle-Gro research specialist Ashleigh Lemon tells CountryLiving.com. This root veggie won’t need a ton of light, but it will need a deep enough container large to house the growing bulbs.
3 Microgreens

Not only are microgreens incredibly easy to grow, they’re super healthy, too. In fact, microgreens are packed with up to 40 times more vitamins and nutrients than fully grown veggies and plants. (We recommend using them to top sandwiches and salads!) Start with a tasty mix of baby kale, beets, and arugula, and you’ll have your first harvest just 2-3 weeks later.
4 Herbs

Herbs grow really well inside, just be sure they’re not too close to a window during the winter months (the cold air may cause wilting). Take your pick from these foolproof options: basil, rosemary, cilantro, chives, thyme, oregano, and parsley.
5 Potatoes

These versatile crops can be grown in fuss-free planter pouches, though they’ll need a lot of light once they’re established. You’ll also need to carve out quite a bit of space for ‘em since they can grow pretty big.
6 Spinach

“Leafy greens and lettuce will do well indoors year-round,” Ashleigh says. “But good drainage is key.” Spinach doesn’t like to be surrounded by moisture, so make sure you grow your greens in a well-draining soil in a pot with drainage holes. You’ll want to use an indoor potting mix, which ensures both proper drainage and air exposure for the roots.
7 Tomatoes

It can be tricky to get tomatoes and other fruits to perform well indoors, which is why it’s best to start them indoors and then move them outside once it’s warm enough. Or, you can grow them with some help from growing lights or a hydroponic system (Root Farm offers both and is great for novice gardeners). Your tomatoes will need 8-10 hours of sunlight each day. You’ll also want to choose a compact variety to ensure they don’t take up too much space in your kitchen.
8 Strawberries

You can grow these sweet treats in pots or hanging planters year-round, though you’ll have to make sure they have access to plenty of sunlight. “Similar to tomatoes, enough light and good drainage is a must,” Ashleigh says. You may also want to consider growing lights or a hydroponic system for these berries, too.
